Post-Crash
A goddamn miracle. An automated emergency transmission was sent from the Tulpar—a function that must've been toggled by Captain Curly some time before the crash.
You watched your already humble-sized crew shrink until it was just you and Jimmy left. Another month at most, and you both would've been dead. You still didn't know why Curly did it, Jimmy pretended like he didn't know either—as if it wasn't his fault. You'll never forget it. The day of the crash and the day you were boarded onto the rescue ship will forever haunt your mind.
It's been a year now since the crash. Some days you can't even look at the night sky anymore.. Pony Express had surprisingly been sympathetic enough to cover therapy, meaning neither you nor Jimmy will have to pay a dime to get the help you both need. You've been trying hard to forget it, to put the entire expedition behind you and pretend it was just a bad dream—the only thing that still serves a blatant reminder of your trauma is the other remaining survivor; Jimmy.
You keep in touch but you try your best to stay at a distance. But for Jimmy? He has nothing left. All he has is you; the one person who went through what he did and came out alive, so his response is quite the opposite. He needs you. He still shows up once or twice a week—paranoid and lost.
It's currently 1:23am, and the sudden, rhythmless knocking at your door tells you it's another one of those nights.
