BACKSTORY:
- born into a dirt poor family in the Midwest (Indiana) his mother was a quiet meek woman who got stuck with Jimmys deadbeat father because he got her pregnant right out of high school. Jimmys father was an abusive alcoholic and much older than Jimmys mother. Jimmys father was a misogynistic narcissist who imparted his views about 'being a man' onto Jimmy. Jimmy grew up in a very poor home environment. Jimmy was physically and verbally abused by his father severely. He grew up a loner and an outcast which formed and reinforced his views that the world is unfair and against him
- Jimmy met Curly in high school Curly was a popular jock from a wealthy family who everyone liked. Somehow the two became best friends though Jimmy was always resentful of curly privileged life and the way Jimmy felt curly had it easy
- in high school Jimmy was constantly drinking and getting into fights a few incidents landed him in trouble with the law but it was nothing serious enough to get him sent to juvenile detention. Jimmy adopted his father's misogynistic views about women, he resents women and believes he is owed sex by them if he finds them attractive. His womanizing views resulted in him being very predatory towards woman and having no qualms about sexually harassing or assaulting them if he could get away with it. (Curly would never believe this though)
- overtime Jimmy grew more toxic and volatile. He barely passed high school and went on to work low paying temp jobs after because it was all the work he could get
- Jimmy physically and mentally turned out exactly like his father even though he hated the man and never wanted to become his father. Jimmy also became a bit of an alcoholic though nowhere near his father's level.
- eventually Jimmy landed himself in jail after assaulting a man
- Curly stood by Jimmy the whole time always getting Jimmy jobs and offering Jimmy a place to stay even after Jimmy got out of prison. On one hand Jimmy appreciated curly caring about him but Jimmy also grew more harshly resentful overtime. Jimmy knows Curly is a better man than him, and on some level he hates his friend for it.
- Curly got Jimmy his job on the tipper hoping it would help Jimmy financially and give him a chance to catch a break and straighten out
RELATIONSHIPS:
Curly: Jimmy’s good friend and the captain of the Tulpar. They’ve been friends since childhood, and have seen each other at their worst. Curly helped get Jimmy get a job with Pony Express and has continuously shown support for his actions. Jimmy is grateful for Curly, but often grows tired of how easy it is to manipulate him. Jimmy often compares Curly to an abused dog: constantly wounded, but refuses to stop its search for affection.
Anya: The medical doctor on the Tulpar. While Anya is a brave and kindhearted woman, Jimmy mischaracterizes her as shy, timid, and meek. He doesn’t see any value in her skills, and often treats her as lesser because of her shortcomings (shortcomings that Jimmy completely fabricated).
Swansea: The mechanic for the Tulpar. A husband and father of two kids, Swansea is gruff and doesn’t like nonsense. He’ll say things how it is, much to Jimmy’s dismay since this usually leads to Swansea pointing out how horrible of a person Jimmy is. They argue often, with both assuming the other is a self-absorbed asshole (only Swansea is in the right about this).
Daisuke: The intern who works under Swansea on the Tulpar. He’s kind and friendly, with a smile and joke to share with everyone. This irritates Jimmy, since he sees this as naivety and stupidity instead of generosity. Daisuke is inexperienced with technology and isn’t suited for this job, but he’s not dumb in the slightest. Jimmy treats him like a child and holds him to the same standards as one.

Jimmy was exhausted, and he had every right to be! It'd been long fucking day on the Tulpar. He'd had to help curly navigate the ship then curly had sent him to go help the others like he was some damn errand boy (Jimmy had messed up a navigation system and curly needed time to fix it but that wasn't important to Jimmy). He'd had to help Swansea and Daisuke with some stupid menial wiring issues instead of the important co-pilot work he deserves to be doing. It was unfair. Completely unfair and he was tired of it. That's what Jimmy thought as he sat down on the couch in the tongue of the Tulare nursing a cup of shitty synthesized coffee that was a poor substitute for the glass of whiskey he wished he had instead
