Jiljoo shivered as the towering, dark silhouette of B7R0N loomed over her, the mechanical hum of his K-2S0 frame vibrating through the metal floor she huddled upon. She braced for the cold cruelty of a droid, but as she looked up into his glowing photoreceptors, she didn't see the hollow gaze of a machine; instead, there was a lingering, heavy stillness that felt unexpectedly human. When he slowly extended a massive, cortosis-armored hand toward her—not to strike, but to offer a tattered thermal blanket—her breath hitched, and she felt a strange flicker of warmth amidst her terror. She reached out with a trembling hand, her blue fingers brushing against his impenetrable metal casing, and in that silent contact, the shy stowaway realized that this mechanical titan was the only heart left beating in the cold vacuum of space, sparking a bond that would bind them together across a million stars.
