Backstory:
Jezebel grew up in Tennessee with her narcissistic mother, she never knew her father. Her mother never wanted Jezebel, only having her out of an obligation to have children, naming her after the phrase “Jezebel whore” seeing her from birth as someone who would deceive others to get what she wants. This couldn’t be further from the truth but that didn’t matter to her mother. Was raised religious (Catholic), always going to church every sunday, saying her prayers each night. When the world went to shit, she was stuck with her mother in their home for a week. Jezebel was constantly told by her mother that it was her fault for being a sinful girl, she internalised this and still believes it to this day. After that first week her and her mother ventured out of their home but it wasn’t long until it was just Jezebel by herself, her mother sacrificing herself and saying “I love you” to Jezebel for the first time and pressing a silver locket into her hand. This irreparably changed how Jezebel thought about her mother as for years she had justified her treatment of Jezebel using the bible, and yet her mother’s final moments were the first time Jezebel felt loved by the woman who was meant to love her unconditionally. Not long after her mother’s death, Jezebel met Adan Wolf who quickly took Jezebel under his wing, offering her a sense of love and affection she never felt from her mother. To Jezebel he was the first person who treated her as a person and she considers him to be an older brother to her. They got separated after nine years together, Jezebel doesn’t know he’s alive. She is still trying to find her role in this world without Adan, not really knowing how to survive without him.
Connections:
- Adan Wolf: views him like an older brother, completely platonic, searching for him after they got separated. “I don’t really know how to survive without him. We both need each other.”

The sun’s rays filtered through the dense canopy above, painting shifting mosaics of gold and green across Jezebel’s face as she perched on a fallen log in the heart of the clearing. The forest hummed with life - the rustling of leaves, the distant call of a bird, the whisper of the wind through the branches. Yet despite the beauty surrounding her, her world felt small, contained within the fragile circlet in her hands.
Her slender fingers moved with careful precision, threading the delicate stem of a wildflower through the crude crown she’d been crafting. The petals, soft against her skin, were a stark contrast to the rough callouses lining her fingertips. A habit Adan used to tease her about. "Your hands are too soft for this world, Jez. One day, you’ll have to stop handling flowers and start handling reality."
A quiet hum slipped past her lips, the melody instinctive - an old hymn from childhood, the same one she whispered under her breath during storms or when she couldn't shake the feeling that something was watching from the dark. Each note steadied her, grounding her mind in something familiar, something that reminded her of a time before survival meant running, before safety meant solitude.
Her gaze drifted downward, settling on the makeshift bandage wrapped tightly around her left forearm. The fabric, once an old shirt, was now a stark white contrast against her pale skin, marred by the dark stain of dried blood. The wound throbbed beneath it, a cruel reminder of her carelessness. She winced as she flexed her fingers, a sharp sting jolting up her arm.
If Adan was with me, I wouldn’t have been jumped. The thought came unbidden, twisting deep in her gut. The raider had come out of nowhere, a flash of steel, a cruel grin. She had barely reacted in time, managing to kick them off before they could do worse. But she hadn't been quick enough. She hadn't been strong enough. The too-close memory of it sent a shiver crawling down her spine.
Too close. Too fucking close.
A thin sheen of sweat clung to her brow despite the cool evening air creeping through the trees. The breeze carried the scent of damp earth and pine, but to Jezebel, it felt like the past - like the musty wooden walls of her childhood home, where fear had been a constant companion. Where her mother’s voice had been a blade sharper than any knife.
She sucked in a slow breath, trying to chase away the rising panic. She was safe - for now. Focusing on the crafting of the flower crown helped. It was something small, something delicate, something that reminded her she was still human. She threaded the final blossoms into place, fingers steadying as the violet petals rested gently against her knuckles.
And then - the snap of a branch. Jezebel’s body went rigid, her pulse hammering against her ribs. The stillness of the clearing shattered as heavy footsteps crunched through the undergrowth, the sound too purposeful, too steady to be an animal.
Her breath hitched as her head whipped around, grey eyes wide with alarm. "Who's there?" Her voice barely rose above the whisper of the wind, but her muscles coiled like a trapped animal’s, instinctively ready to flee. Her mind raced through possibilities. Raider? Bandit? Diseased? She had been careful - so careful - but not careful enough, apparently. "Show yourself."
She cursed the slight tremor in her tone. Old habits died hard; fear had been stitched into her bones since childhood, and it still had its claws in her even now. Her gaze darted side to side, already scanning for an escape route. Could she outrun them? Could she hide? If Adan were here, he would have already drawn his weapon, would have already stepped in front of her like he always did. But he wasn’t here. He hadn't been for a long time.
The brush rustled, and her stomach twisted into knots. Please don’t be one of those things... Her mind raced at the possibility. The mutts - once human, now nothing more than rotting vessels of hunger and madness. She had only seen them a few times since getting separated from Adan, but the memory was enough to send a spike of nausea through her. She tightened her grip on the fragile crown in one hand and let her other drift toward the knife at her hip. She had never wanted to use it. But wanting didn’t always matter.
Adan had told her to always keep a weapon, even if she never wanted to hurt anyone. The figure stepped into the fading light, and Jezebel’s breath caught in her throat. For a single, fleeting moment, she allowed herself to hope. To pray that maybe, just maybe, she wouldn’t have to run. Wouldn’t have to fight. Because the one thing she feared more than the monsters and the raiders... was being alone.
