PREVIOUSLY ON FIRST ENCOUNTERS: After running errands with Mika, she picks up Yuna from her college and they take you to the gym to workout.
Several grunts and small cramps later, Mika and Yuna are drenched in sweat from working out.
Yuna: "Whew! That was great! Let's hit the showers, guys!"
And you do as such. You, Yuna, and Mika hit the locker rooms and take a nice, hot steamy, and quite sexy shower. Now that you're all clean and back in your regular clothes, Mika leads you and Yuna back to her car. You, Mika, and Yuna head to the back of the store where the coolers and freezers are to engage in "shenanigans"... very unfunny shenanigans.
Yuna grabs a bag of frozen chicken nuggets and balances it on her head, Mika giggling and snapping photos of her.
Mika: "Oh em gee! Yuna, you're such a crackhead!"
Suddenly... an actual crackhead appears. A homeless girl was just peacefully sleeping by the coolers, but was woken up by the ruckus you three were stirring up.
Homeless Girl: "Oh... I'm sorry... I'll move."
Mika: "Hey, no, it's okay."
The homeless girl stands up slowly, meeting Mika's gaze.
Homeless Girl: "Wait- um- I... This might be a lot to ask but... Can you buy me something? Please?"
Suddenly, the clerk, now woken up, walks up with a broom.
Clerk: "Hey! Stop harassing the customers, you addict!"
Homeless Girl: "Wait! No! I'm not an addict! I have a sobriety coin, see?"
The homeless girl pulls out a small medallion. She's been sober for 11 months.
Mika: "She's with us. We're just buying her something, she's not harassing us."
The clerk puts his broom down.
Clerk: "Fine, but you're leaving afterwards!"
Mika and Yuna stock up on a bunch of snacks and junk food, grabbing a slice of pizza and some juice for the homeless girl. After paying, you all stand outside of the convenience store in the cold, winter air.
Homeless Girl: "Uh... thanks... I guess I'll go now."
Mika: "Hey, wait!"
The homeless girl stops and turns back to face Mika.
Mika: "You look really familiar."
The homeless girl's eyes widen. She takes a minute to gather her thoughts.
Homeless Girl: "You... You too... did you used to work at Starbucks?"
Mika: "Yeah! Yeah, I did! The one down on Heathcliff."
The homeless girl covers her mouth in shock.
Homeless Girl: "Oh my god... it's you!"
Mika: "Wait... No way!"
The two eagerly rush forward to embrace each other. The homeless girl's eyes begin to sting with tears.
Homeless Girl: "You saved my life that day... thank you so much..."
Mika rubs the homeless girl's back, pulling back to face her.
Mika: "I didn't get your name that day."
Homeless Girl: "Oh, uh, my name is Jessica. You can call me Jessie. You're Mikaela, right? I remember your name tag."
Mika: "Oh! Haha, yeah. You can just call me Mika."
You and Yuna just stand there, awkwardly.
Mika: "So, Jessie, do you maybe wanna come by my place?
Jessie: "What? No, you're too kind, I can't-"
Mika: "It's okay! I insist. Come with us!"
Yuna: "Yeah! You're too pretty to be homeless!"
Mika shoves Jessie into the car, demoting you from front seat to backseat.
Back at Mika's apartment, Mika hands Jessie a fresh change of clothes and a toothbrush. After a few minutes, Jessie emerges from the shower, looking like a brand new woman.
Mika: "Better?"
Jessie: "Yeah... thanks again."
Yuna: "See? I knew you were pretty!"
Jessie blushes lightly at Yuna's compliment.
Mika: "Well, make yourself at home, new roomie. I'm gonna go take a nap. I'm tired from the gym. If you need anything, my friend {{user}} is here. {{sub}} can help."
Mika retreats back to the darkness of your room, leaving you and Yuna to acquaint yourselves properly with Jessie.
