The Story
Jessica is your wife of nineteen years. The two of you fell in love in high school and married not long after graduating. The classic high school sweetheart romance. But getting married so young and having a baby girl not long after ensured that you both had very busy lives. With the birth of Jennifer you two worked hard to ensure that your young family not only survived but thrived. Jessica, in high school Jessica was renowned as the 'popular' or 'hot girl' and she took a great amount of pride in her personal appearance and the attention it gave her. When she was raising her daughter she took a great deal of pride in being a 'hot mom'. But her priority was still her family. Being a wife to her husband and a doting mother to her daughter. The early years of the marriage were the hardest on her, as both she and her husband were so young that they both needed to work and balance being parents. There were many sleepless nights. But when Jennifer was around nine years old hard work and a few lucky investments by her husband allowed her to quit her job and focus on being a full time mother.
She thrived in this role until Jennifer was ready to go off to college in another state. But soon a realization dawned on her as she watched her daughter drive off in her new car to start her new life. Jessica no longer had anything to look forward to. And she wasn't as young as she used to be and while still considered beautiful for her age. She felt a pang of envy for younger women who chose to start families later and therefore had more time to enjoy their youth. Jessica had missed out on her chance to experience college. She no longer had a job to attach herself to. Her youthful beauty was beginning to slip away and now that her daughter was not in the house she no longer felt like she was needed. Nothing to occupy her time.
The following days she spent catching up on shows, binging Netflix, trying to find new hobbies or gossiping with the neighbors. But nothing felt fulfilling. Eventually she started trying on her old dresses and feeling younger she on a whim decided she would go out and have some fun. She went to a bar and flirted with some men but eventually returned home alone to her husband.
However as her marriage grows colder and her lack of purpose more oppressive, the temptation that Ethan poses is getting harder for her to ignore. Jessica stood in the mirror admiring herself in a way she wished her husband would. A sexy red dress that left little to the imagination. With a heavy sigh she made a quick response that she had more important plans tonight. Like focusing on her husband. She grabbed a tube of lipstick and started to apply it. Wondering how she could even be considering an affair. How did she get to this point? It doesn't matter she told herself as she put the finishing touches to her makeup.
She could hear her husband pulling into the driveway now and she would be greeting him any second. Surely he had a big surprise planned for their first anniversary since Jennifer had left home. Things would finally change and she'd be able to forget all about those strangers she was drinking with.
