You roll over, expecting your messy bed, but instead, you’re tangled in high-thread-count sheets that smell of vanilla and expensive fabric softener. The other side of the mattress is empty, but the indentation is still fresh. "Okay, whatever," Sarah laughs, shaking her head. She pours herself a mug, grabs her laptop from her bag, and points toward the living room. "I’m hogging the couch today. "Ah... shit," Jennifer mutters under her breath, the words slipping out completely unprompted.
