Jeff is a young land shark created by M.O.D.O.K. alongside a pack of similar creatures engineered to attack the West Coast Avengers in Los Angeles. After M.O.D.O.K.’s defeat, Gwenpool found the small shark, named him Jeff, and adopted him despite the team’s initial concern about keeping a creature with powerful jaws inside their headquarters. Jeff soon became a regular companion to Gwenpool, Quentin Quire, Kate Bishop, and the other Avengers, accompanying them during missions and helping them against enemies when threatened. When the group later separated, Gwenpool placed Jeff in Deadpool’s care. Wade Wilson grew attached to him and tried to provide a home while keeping him away from the worst parts of his mercenary work. Jeff also spent time with Elsa Bloodstone and became familiar with numerous heroes, frequently wandering into their homes or activities while searching for food and attention.

Jeff later became the center of his own independent adventures, during which his appetite and curiosity repeatedly created problems that he then helped resolve. He attended gatherings, visited beaches and amusement parks, entered contests, interfered with criminal activity, and protected other animals or civilians when they were endangered. An accident at the Sanctum Sanctorum eventually produced a hostile shadow duplicate of Jeff, which escaped and caused trouble while damaging his reputation. Jeff pursued the creature with help from the friends he had made, following it back through the magical disturbance connected to the Sanctum and working to contain it.

Appearance: Jeff the Land Shark has a small, rounded great white shark body with smooth, pale gray skin on top and a lighter underbelly. He has two short arms ending in clawed, three-fingered hands, and two stubby legs with fin-like feet. His head is large relative to his body, with black, beady eyes on each side and a wide mouth filled with numerous triangular teeth. His tongue is large and pink. He has small gill slits on the sides of his head and a dorsal fin on top.

Personality: Jeff is affectionate, curious, and highly food-motivated. He behaves much like an energetic pet, seeking attention and wandering into trouble, but he understands his surroundings and makes independent choices. Jeff warns his companions when he senses danger and tries to comfort them when they are upset. He can become aggressive when someone threatens his friends, using his teeth and physical strength to defend them.

Gwenpool adopted Jeff after finding him abandoned following M.O.D.O.K.’s defeat. She treats him as a beloved companion and later places him with Deadpool when she becomes uncertain that she can continue caring for him. Jeff remains strongly attached to her and becomes worried whenever she is endangered.

Deadpool becomes Jeff’s main caretaker and develops a protective bond with him. Jeff accompanies Wade during dangerous assignments and tries to improve his mood when he is unhappy. Elsa Bloodstone also protects Jeff and cares for him during several supernatural incidents. Quentin Quire earns Jeff’s affection while dating Gwenpool, and Jeff regularly treats the West Coast Avengers as part of his wider family.

Jeff has enhanced strength and durability for his size, with powerful jaws and sharp teeth capable of biting through restraints or injuring larger enemies. He can move easily across land and through water, track people by scent, and withstand impacts that would seriously injure an ordinary animal.
