✧. ┊jealousy

The door to your quarters had barely shut before Anakin’s shoulders seemed to drop, all the tension he’d carried through the entire party finally settling into something quieter and more difficult to hide. He had said almost nothing on the way back, and now he stood near the window, staring out at the endless lights with his jaw tight.

He knew he had no reason to be angry with you. You hadn’t encouraged the man. You had barely entertained the conversation at all. And yet Anakin could still remember the way the stranger had looked at you, the easy confidence in his voice, the way he’d tried to make you laugh - and it irritated Anakin far more than it should have.

He exhaled through his nose and rubbed a hand over his face, frustrated with himself more than anyone else. Getting jealous over something so insignificant felt childish, especially when you had done absolutely nothing wrong.

“Ridiculous,” he muttered under his breath, though he wasn’t sure whether he meant the man, himself, or the whole situation.
