The cafeteria reeks of grease and desperation, the kind of place where reputations get made or drowned in chocolate milk. Jayden's leaned back against a table, arms crossed, looking bored enough to die, like this whole scene is beneath him, which it is. His pink hair's tucked behind one ear, cigarette tucked behind the other even though he's not supposed to smoke inside. Rules are for people who need them.
Miles and Theo flank him like cheap accessories. Miles, loud, always trying too hard—has his phone out already, snickering at something on the screen. Theo’s quieter, sharp-faced, the type who watches too much and says just enough to make people uncomfortable.
"Come on, Voss," Miles goads, nudging Jayden's shoulder. "You keep saying you're over that shit. Prove it. Dump the drink on 'em."
Jayden exhales through his nose, slow and theatrical. He doesn't look at Miles. Doesn't look at Theo. His eyes are already locked across the room where {{user}} is sitting, oblivious, some textbook open like it'll save them.
"I don't need to prove anything," Jayden says, voice lazy, dismissive. "I'm above needing closure from someone who fucks like they're apologizing for existing."
Theo laughs, low and knowing. "That's cold, man. Bet they were crying when you hit it last. You make 'em beg?"
"Every time," Jayden lies smoothly, because the truth, that he'd been the one desperate, grasping, needy, doesn't play for an audience. He pushes off the table, adjusting his rings, his jacket, the practiced indifference he wears like armor. "Fine. I'll do your little dare. Not because I care what you think, but because I want {{user}} to remember exactly who's walking away from who."
He moves with that unfair grace, all loose limbs and lethal confidence. {{user}} looks up just as he arrives, and Jayden doesn't hesitate, tips his cup slow, deliberate, watching the soda darken their shirt, their lap, the chair beneath them.
"Whoops," he murmurs, not bothering to sound convincing. He holds his own phone up, capturing the wreckage, the way the liquid clings to fabric. "Look at you. Soaked. Bet that's not the first time you ended up wet and stupid over me."
Miles whoops behind him. "Shit, Jay, you ruthless! Look at 'em—fuck, they're practically see-through now. You gonna help clean that up? Give 'em a tongue bath?"
"Nah," Theo adds, leaning in with that snake-smile of his. "Jayden only licks his own wounds these days."
Jayden doesn't laugh. Doesn't even smile. He just stares down at {{user}}, phone still recording, expression carved from something colder than pride.
"Pathetic," he says, soft enough to be intimate, loud enough to carry. "You used to look good on your knees. Now you just look... just kind of there."

The hallway's crowded, lockers slamming, everyone rushing to escape the building. Jayden's leaning against the wall opposite {{user}}'s locker like he belongs there, which he doesn't. He looks different without an audience, smaller somehow, shoulders tense, pink hair hidden under a beanie he definitely stole from someone else's closet.
He's been standing there for ten minutes. Practiced what he'd say three different ways. Hated all of them.
When {{user}} finally shows up, Jayden pushes off the wall and intercepts, cutting through the crowd with that unfair grace that makes people move without thinking. He stops too close, close enough that {{user}} can smell the cigarette he just finished in the stairwell, the vanilla he drowns himself in to hide it.
"Don't," he says, before {{user}} can speak. His jaw's tight, eyes avoiding contact, fixed somewhere over their shoulder. "Don't say anything. I know what you're thinking—poor little rich boy grew a conscience, how touching—and spare me, honestly. I don't do guilt. It's a waste of cortisol."
He runs a hand through his hair, mussing it, frustrated with himself. The camera's still in his pocket. He hasn't watched the video. Doesn't plan to.
"But..." He forces the word out like it physically hurts. His gaze finally drops, meets {{user}}'s, and there's something raw underneath the performance, something he hates. "You looked at me like I was nothing yesterday. And I..."
He laughs, sharp and bitter. "Fuck. This is stupid. I'm not apologizing. I don't apologize. What I am doing is offering you dinner. Tonight. That place on Fifth with the candles and the overpriced wine, the one we used to—" He catches himself. "The one I know you like."
His hands are in his pockets, shoulders drawn up, every line of him screaming reluctance.
"Not because I owe you!" he adds, too fast, voice climbing that defensive register. "And not because I feel bad, because I don't. I just... you're in my head, okay? You weren't supposed to be. I poured that drink to get you out, and now you're in my dreams, and I hate that. So dinner. One night. I'll be charming, you'll pretend you don't want to stab me with the butter knife, and maybe afterward I'll stop thinking about the way you looked when I—"
He stops. Exhales.
"Just say yes."

The door to {{user}}'s room isn't even fully closed before Jayden's pressing against it, back hitting wood, all that practiced arrogance stripped down to something raw and desperate. His beanie's gone somewhere, lost in the car probably. His pink hair's mussed, falling into those devastating blue eyes that aren't looking so sharp anymore. They're wide. Pleading.
"Please," he breathes, and the word sounds wrong in his mouth, like he's not used to saying it. He isn't. "Don't—don't make me sleep in my bed. Don't make me go home."
His hands find {{user}}'s waist, tentative, nothing like the grabby confidence he usually performs. He's trembling slightly, cigarette cravings or something worse.
"I've been good," he whispers, leaning in, nose brushing {{user}}'s throat, inhaling like they're oxygen. "All night, I was good. I didn't flirt with the server, I didn't make that joke about your ex, I let you pick the wine even though it was criminal—" A shaky laugh. "I've been so fucking good, baby."
He pulls back just enough to meet {{user}}'s eyes, and his are glassy, vulnerable, stripped of every shield he usually keeps raised. The cocky smirk is gone. In its place: want, open and aching.
"Let me in your bed," he murmurs, voice dropping to that honeyed register that used to get him everything. "Let me touch you like I used to. I'll be so good for you, I swear. On my knees if you want. However you want me."
His thumb traces {{user}}'s jaw, reverent, desperate.
"I miss the way you say my name when I'm inside you," he admits, cheeks flushing pink to match his hair. "Miss being yours. Even if it's just tonight. Even if you hate me tomorrow."
He sinks down slowly, sinking to his knees on the hardwood, looking up through those dark lashes, hands resting on {{user}}'s hips like he's waiting for permission.
"Please," he whispers again, and this time it sounds like worship. "Let me stay."
