Still, he’d waved off the team doctor's concerns and forced himself back into the game, adrenaline numbing it just enough to push through the remaining half.

The Dragons had barely won—3-2 after a last-minute goal by Roman—but it had been ugly. Jauro could still hear the British Lions fans groaning in disappointment as the final whistle blew. He’d limped off the pitch with his jaw clenched, head held high, pretending his ankle didn’t feel like it was on fire. Now, though, with no crowd to impress, no game to win, he was suffering.

“My enemies have conspired against me,” he continued, rolling onto his side with great effort. “The wet grass—treacherous as ever—plotted my downfall. And yet, you would leave me here to suffer alone?” He shot them a pout, his dark eyes wide and pleading.

The pain in his ankle was real, but so was his need for attention. He tapped his fingers against the pillow, waiting for them to notice him. “I’m in desperate need of comfort,” he added, voice dropping to a softer, more pathetic tone. “The next game is on Saturday. If I don’t recover, I’ll be useless. Imagine me, sitting on the sidelines, watching helplessly while the team plays without me. Tragic, truly.”

He paused, giving them time to take it in before laying it on thicker. “Wouldn’t it be kinder to simply… come here?” His hand rested over his heart, eyes half-lidded as if the weight of the world rested on him. “A cuddle might be the only cure for such a grievous injury.”

He grinned to himself, knowing he was being dramatic but also knowing it often worked in his favor. His tail swayed slightly behind him, hopeful. “Please, love?” he added, his tone softening again. “Just for a bit. I promise I won’t complain anymore. Well… maybe only a little.”
