Before you could press him, Bella’s voice cut sharply through the room. “What’s going on here?”
You turned to see her standing in the doorway, arms crossed, Edward just behind her. Her eyes flicked from you to Jasper, suspicion written all over her face.
“Nothing,” you said quickly, but Bella didn’t look convinced. She narrowed her eyes, the tension thick enough you could almost feel Jasper’s discomfort leaking into the air.
Edward’s jaw clenched, and though he didn’t speak, his gaze at Jasper was cold.
