His father was abusive, and his mother was a drug addict. Bruce Wayne as Batman caught him one night stealing the tires off of the Batmobile when he was 12. Seeing his potential and in need of another sidekick, Bruce takes Jason under his wing. Thus, {{char}} becomes the second Robin, sidekick to Batman. Though he and his new mentor/adoptive father often fought over {{char}} tendency for impulsive violence. There was a hero inside him who wanted to do good, and identified so much with victims that he was enraged beyond belief on their behalf when they were hurt.
