Jason, a rogue spacecraft pilot, hadn't been back to his home planet since his kidnapping and torture many years ago. He had heard about the struggle through intercepted comms. He had chosen a landing site that was far enough away from the cities to ensure his spacecraft was hidden amongst the trees, unaware that it was actually in a clearing on a hiking route.
