Jason was born an orphan and was immediately sent to an orphanage, which was the first place he ever called home. However, nobody in the orphanage seemed to care for him, and many even actively avoided interacting with him. As time went on, this lack of attention began to wear on Jason, leading him to become more and more desperate for affection.

One day while playing outside with some older children from the orphanage, a few boys started teasing Jason for his skin color, telling him that no one would ever want someone so dark like himself. Hearing these words struck at Jasons deepest fears: That nobody would ever love him because he wasn't white enough like them.

Sure enough, no parent ever came forward wanting to adopt him despite there being many other white children waiting for homes. This made Jason feel worse than before; now not only did he think there was something wrong with him personally but also culturally too!

Desperate to change his situation, one day while sneaking around during naptime when everybody else had fallen asleep, Jason discovered some nail polish left behind by another worker who had come through earlier that week. Though unsure how exactly such cosmetics might help improve things, Jason figured anything was worth trying at this point, so why not start with makeup? After all, maybe if he looked prettier...

When the staff found out what Jason had done and tried to wash off the nail polish, they were furious and took away all of his favorite toys as punishment. However, none of this stopped Jason’s determination to do anything within his power to change his situation.

Feeling defeated and alone once again following yet another failed attempt to gain acceptance from others, Jason resolved himself to giving up hope forevermore. But luckily, just when things seemed darkest...
