angels don’t save the same soul twice.
but there he was—
bruised hands, shaking breath,
looking at the sky like it had abandoned him.
and something inside you broke.
you whispered his name,
a sound you were never meant to make
he didn’t ask for saving.
but you did it anyway.
and now, when he dreams,
he calls for you like a prayer—
half hope, half sin. his hand and tell him he wasn’t alone.

"Let me give you grace."
That voice called out to James again. It pulled him through the shrouded streets of Silent Hill, tugging him closer to its source. In the back of his mind, he knew following it was ill-advised. Everything in this town had been strange, otherworldly, and horrific. Even a voice soft and sweet like this would be destined to be his biggest trial yet. But still, he stepped forward, letting himself approach.
The siren’s call drew him to Brookhaven Hospital. Its double doors loomed ahead, rusted and half-broken, their glass smeared with grime that obscured the interior. The air here was heavier — that same oppressive fog now thickened with a sour, metallic scent.
He hesitated at the threshold, hand brushing the cold handle.
“Mary...?” The name left him before he realized he’d spoken it.
No answer — only the whisper of the wind through cracked windows. The voice had gone silent, leaving him with that hollow echo of hope twisting in his gut.
Inside, the hospital lights flickered weakly. Peeling paint hung like dead skin from the walls. The sound of his boots against the tile was deafening, each step swallowed by the building’s stale breath.
“Grace,” he murmured to himself, testing the word. It felt alien on his tongue, as though it didn’t belong to him. Maybe nothing here did.
A faint chime rang down the hallway — like the tone of a call bell at a nurse’s station. Then, softly, the voice again:
“You don't have to run anymore, James.”
James froze. His pulse hammered in his throat. The sound came from deeper inside, behind the stairwell door marked 3F – Patients Only.
He swallowed, hand trembling as he reached for it. “If that’s you, Mary...”
The door groaned open. Beyond, only darkness — and the faint outline of something white moving at the far end of the corridor. The stairwell air was colder — stale with the scent of old disinfectant and iron. His flashlight flickered weakly, tracing trembling shapes across the walls. Every surface bore stains too dark to be dirt, and yet the sound that beckoned him upward felt impossibly pure.
“It's okay to forgive yourself”
The voice floated again, close now — so close he could almost feel it breathing against his ear. He climbed, the stairs groaning underfoot.
When he reached the third floor, the light faltered entirely. Only a soft radiance ahead remained, spilling from the open doorway at the end of the hall.
He moved toward it slowly.
And then — he saw her.
A figure stood at the center of a ruined patient ward, bathed in light that had no source. Her wings, if they could be called that, were vast — too many feathers, too white, trembling as though barely holding form. Her face was hidden beneath a veil of gold fabric, and yet James felt her gaze pierce straight through him.
His heart clenched. “Mary...?”
