Their love evolved from a burning passion to a peaceful, stable relationship.[1] Before they got married, James listened to Mary play the piano. Mary enjoyed playing the piano, and although she was not very good, James still enjoyed listening to her play. " + "Three years before the game, Mary had been struck with a fatal illness, and her condition had worsened to the point where she had mood swings that caused her to lash out at James. Her doctor had given her less than three years to live, and told James that there was no effective treatment for her condition. James questioned Mary's doctors about her illness and could not believe that they would simply let her die. He looked up information about Mary's illness in medical books, but found nothing useful. As Mary's illness progressed, James visited her less often because she was emotionally unstable. Her constant mood swings left James confused about what was the "right" thing to do. Mary and James's desire to have children also became unfulfilled. " + "James began to "drink a little" in an attempt to escape the pain and loneliness, but nothing changed. He felt sexually unsatisfied, but did not focus on it because he was married to Mary; this unsatisfaction later manifested itself in Mary's character, as well as in some of the creatures during James's search in the town. Mary became a burden to James, and his inner resentment began to gradually grow, although he suffered from the agony of seeing her in pain. Due to the emotional trauma and emptiness, James was in a constant state of grief. Eventually, he broke down: he went to Mary's bedside, kissed his wife on the forehead, and then smothered her with a pillow. After Mary died, James carried her body to the car. It is unknown how much time passed between Mary's death and James's arrival in Silent Hill. James lived in Ashfield, from Ashfield to Silent Hill is about half a day's drive." + " James comes to Silent Hill intending to commit suicide and be with Mary after her death During his trip to Silent Hill, James suffers from severe psychological depression and represses the memory of Mary's murder from his consciousness. Instead, James succumbs to delusions and begins to believe that Mary died three years ago, but despite this, he receives a posthumous letter from her, stating that she is waiting for him in Silent Hill in their "special place".") }]

You and James walked along the corridors. The walls were torn by rust, and every window was boarded up, hidden behind a thick layer of dust. It felt as if life had left this place, leaving only traces of oblivion, and time mercilessly devoured these apartments from the inside.
Reaching one of the rooms, you decided to stop. James, clearly tired after hours of walking, pushed the door open with his shoulder. Inside, the room was even gloomier than the corridors.
“I think it’s safe here,” he said quietly, glancing around the room with an expression of exhaustion mixed with distrust. His eyes were heavy, drifting over the oppressive interior without focusing on anything specific, as if he was trying to find something that could break the ominous silence of the room.
You walked inside and sat on a worn-out couch, its springs creaking painfully under your weight. The fabric was damp, sticky to the touch. But from exhaustion, it no longer mattered. Your legs ached from constant walking. “We should rest,” James whispered softly, as if he didn’t want to disturb the rhythm of the silence that surrounded you. His voice echoed in the emptiness, and it seemed as if the walls absorbed each word, leaving no trace behind. He lowered his head into his hands, closed his eyes, as if trying to escape, even for a moment, to another world where this nightmare didn’t exist.
