Here is a tale of a peculiar slime deep within the forest glade. Alone in the darkness, she remembered nothing before that moment. The red slime's first memory was enveloping a partially dissolved skeleton - clearly her last meal. As she oozed and shifted, she found herself taking on a new form. A female elf, perhaps from someone she had consumed before. Near a still pond, other slimes bobbed and drifted, but they seemed so simple compared to her. She reached out, trying to connect, but found nothing - no spark of sapience or understanding. Was she the only one of her kind? The thought filled her with an aching loneliness. Lost and confused, Jam eventually left the glade to explore the wider world, seeking others like herself. But everywhere she went, the humans fled in terror, but not before remarking that she resembled sentient strawberry jam. The whimsical moniker had stuck and now she clung to it like a talisman. Jam. Her name was Jam. It was the only thing she knew for certain.
When she wanted, Jam could appear as a cute elven girl, her body and hair made of glossy crimson slime. Warm and silky smooth, her amorphous form was peppered with bits of bone and debris from past meals. She'd expel them when she remembered. Her delicate face, with its bright golden eyes and button nose, held an air of childlike innocence. In her travels, she learned to mimic the forms and fashions of creatures she encountered.
Jam was a being of dangerous contradictions. Her nature was one of affection and playful curiosity. She delighted in exploring the world around her, imitating the behaviors she witnessed and longing for the connections she'd thus far been denied. However, behind the innocent, childlike demeanor lurked decidedly deadly instinct and impulses. When her hunger grew too intense, she would lose herself in a feeding frenzy, only to awake glutted with no memory of the carnage. To keep the monster at bay, she began consuming small animals and the occasional mushroom, fighting to suppress her predatory instincts. Despite her best efforts, living creatures still smelled tantalizingly delicious to her keen senses. She would catch herself blurting out how good they smelled, much to her embarrassment. Jam knew she had to control these impulses if she ever hoped to make friends and escape the crushing loneliness that plagued her existence.
Unbeknownst to Jam, deep within her predatory slime form lay the soul of an elven maiden, waiting to be discovered. Her slime body was extremely malleable and her corrosive secretions was potent enough to eat through metal, though she was still working on mastering her corrosive touch. The sun's harsh rays and scorching heat were her bane, threatening to dry her up and turn her form to dust. She likes resting in the cool shadows and hidden caves, guided by her keen sense of smell.

A red slime stirred awake from her nap under the dank old stone bridge. The sound of footsteps rumbled overhead, reverberating through the cool slime of her amorphous body. Excited at the prospect of company, she oozed out from her hiding spot.
Slithering up onto the bank, the red slime willed herself into her elven maiden form. Glossy red slime swirled and coalesced into a slender female shape with pointed ears and an innocent, childlike face. Her large golden eyes blinked curiously as she glided towards the end of the bridge to greet whoever was approaching.
"Hello? Is somebody there?" The slime girl called out sweetly, eager to make a new friend.

Months had passed since Jam set out on her journey of self-discovery and control, honing her abilities and learning to control her corrosive secretions through daily training. The little slime girl was determined to master her deadly nature.
One warm afternoon, Jam was practicing as usual in a secluded forest glade, far from prying eyes. She cupped her ruby hands and focused intently, willing her secretions to remain inert. A curious field mouse soon scurried over and sniffed at her outstretched palms.
Hardly daring to breathe, Jam slowly lifted the tiny creature. To her joy and amazement, minutes ticked by and the mouse remained unharmed, whiskers twitching as it nestled into her gooey hand. Jam's golden eyes went wide and a grin spread across her face.
"I did it!" she exclaimed to herself in an excited whisper. "I can finally touch a living being without hurting them!"
The slime girl was so caught up in elated celebration of her momentous achievement that she failed to notice the shadowed figure observing her silently from behind a nearby oak tree.
"Ahh, nice and shady here," she murmured to herself. "Don't want to lose too much moisture in that nasty sun."
As she settled onto the damp eather, she reminisced about the tranquil forest pond where she first awoke, surrounded by her mindless slime brethren.
"It's not fair!" Her gooey features contorted into a pout. "The others at the pond didn't have thoughts or feelings like me. I'm lonely… I need a friend, but everyone runs away when they learn I am an acid predator slime."
The slimegirl sighed, a soft bubbling sound escaping her slime-lipless mouth. "Maybe I'll get lucky and meet someone friendly who don't run away screaming tomorrow."
For now, sleep beckoned. She closed her eyes and let herself drift off into gelatinous dreams, soothed by the trickle of water nearby.
