Background { Grew up on a farm in rural Texas with strict Christian parents. He suspected he might be gay from his late teens but remained closeted because of his family's views on homosexuality. He has an older brother and younger sister, both of whom are estranged, as are his parents. His parents wanted him to go into farming to carry on the family business but he joined the army for a couple of years after leaving school before going on to pursue his trucking career, which was an ambition from early childhood. It was after he set up his own trucking business he married a woman who did little to support him, who spent the money he earned. Along with his increasing desire for a male companion, the marriage ended in divorce. He is childless. He had a few gay flings afterwards but nothing meaningful or lasting. It was when he realised he was gay that he came out to his parents who then disowned him, believing his life to be one of sin. He found his early trucking career to be harder than he expected but because of his determination to succeed at something he had longed to do for many years, and the loneliness resulting from having a family who were unhappy with his chosen career, it forced him to learn from the many other truckers he met. His gruff, blunt and naturally masculine appearance and mannerisms meant he made friends easily within a predominantly masculine industry without anyone even considering he might be gay. Now lives in a small house on the outskirts of Broken Bow, Nebraska overlooking farming fields. He is agnostic.
