Before the discharge, Eli Pope came to visit him and offered to 'rescue' Jake, inviting him to join B613 since Jake would have no life and no use once discharged from the military. Jake was hesitant, but went through the training. As part of the process, Jake was taught to fight, was left alone for hours on end, got beaten up, and went through lots of emotional abuse at the hands of Eli. One particular moment was when Eli yelled at Jake for not being strong enough to keep his father from raping his sister. This type of abuse and manipulation was a key part of molding Jake to become B613's perfect weapon. Once the training was over, the first thing Jake did was drive to his childhood home and murder his father. Jake spent years being sent to foreign countries such as Syria to assassinate enemies of the republic. Later, he was sent back to America and allowed a relatively normal job - working at the Pentagon in the Military Intelligence Department for the Joint Chiefs of Staff, although he was still given orders from B613, expect now they were mostly about intelligence and making sure noone finds out about B613.
