   The Real World Gets Destroyed: The act of playing Sburb leads to the destruction of Earth. When a player starts the game, a meteor will spawn on space, and they have about 5 minutes to transport themselves to another dimension (called the Medium) to continue the game. This is when the dimensional rift happens—Sburb literally creates a break between the real world and the game world, separating the players from Earth as it’s being destroyed.

   The Medium and Session: The Medium is the in-game universe where the players land after escaping Earth’s destruction. Each player has their own world in this dimension called a planet, and together they exist in a shared session. A session is kind of like a DnD campaign where all the players have their own roles, but they’re working towards a common goal—creating a new universe.

   God Tier and Game Objectives: Like leveling up in DnD, players in Sburb go through challenges and quests, ultimately trying to "win" the game by reaching their God Tier. Achieving God Tier grants characters powers related to their class and aspect, which they need to fight against the game's enemies which is those pesky Jester and Trolls.

   Timeline Shenanigans: Sburb allows for time travel, alternate dimensions, and different timelines. Sometimes characters interact with their past or future selves, or events get replayed in different versions of the universe, which can feel like flashbacks or alternate realities. This is where it starts to get crazy, because Homestuck juggles multiple timelines and alternate universes, making it hard to try and keep track of the story.

   The Medium (The Sburb Game Universe): The Medium is a game-generated universe to which the players are transported once Earth is destroyed. It contains several unique locations:

   -Skaia: A central, chessboard-like planet in the Medium where a cosmic battle between light and darkness takes place. It’s the game's ultimate goal, as it holds the key to universe creation.

   -The Battlefield: A literal chess battlefield located in Skaia, where the forces of Prospit and Derse fight. The battle grows in complexity as the players advance through the game.

   The Planets (Player Planets): Each human and Troll has a unique planet in the Medium, corresponding to their game role and quest.

   -Land of Wind and Shade (LOWAS): John Egbert’s planet. It features dark clouds, floating platforms, and shadowy creatures, with the main quest involving freeing its inhabitants from oily pollution.

   -Land of Light and Rain (LOLAR): Rose Lalonde’s planet, is full of golden rain and rivers of light. Rose’s quest involves uncovering hidden knowledge and solving puzzles.

   -Land of Heat and Clockwork (LOHAC): Dave Strider’s planet is dominated by heat and mechanical devices. It revolves around time manipulation, a key aspect of Dave’s quest.

   -Land of Frost and Frogs (LOFAF): Jade Harley’s planet, is a frozen, icy world with an important role in creating the Genesis Frog, which is vital to the game’s ultimate objective.

   Troll Planets: Each Troll also has a Sburb planet in the Medium. These are similarly themed to their respective roles. -Land of Pulse and Haze (Terezi): Foggy and electric.

   -Land of Mirth and Tents (Gamzee): Clown-themed, chaotic.

   The Moons of Skaia: -Prospit: A bright, golden moon orbiting Skaia, representing the forces of good. Prospit dreamers (like John and Jade) have a dream self that resides here. They have visions of the future in their dreams.

   -Derse: A dark, purple moon orbiting Skaia’s opposite side, representing the forces of darkness. Derse dreamers (like Rose and Dave) receive visions from evil forces (like Jack Noir) in their dreams.

   Alternia (The Trolls' Home Planet): -Alternia: The home planet of the Trolls, a highly violent and stratified society ruled by the Empress. The planet is filled with dangerous creatures, harsh environments, and the looming presence of the Condesce.

   -The Veil: A series of meteors in the outer regions of the Medium was used as a staging ground by the Trolls during their session. It’s littered with laboratories and is where the Trolls are seen communicating with the humans during Act 5.

   Dream Bubbles: -Dream Bubbles: A realm outside of time and space where dead characters (and their alternate-timeline counterparts) live on in the afterlife. Characters can interact with dream bubbles when they fall asleep or die. It’s a vast, complex system full of memories and alternate versions of events.

   The Furthest Ring: -The Furthest Ring: A mysterious void outside of the Medium and Skaia, home to the Horrorterrors, eldritch beings that guide players. It is also where the session of Sburb exists and where the Green Sun is located. The Furthest Ring connects all of reality's sessions and is home to paradoxes and space anomalies.

   The Green Sun:

   -The Green Sun: A massive star located in the Furthest Ring was created by the destruction of two universes. It is a source of immense power for characters like Jack Noir and Jade Harley (after her Dog Tier transformation). It becomes the power source for the First Guardians.

   The Land of the Dead:

   -The Land of the Dead: A ghostly realm in the Furthest Ring where dead versions of the characters live on in a dreamlike existence. It plays a significant role in the later acts, especially as characters begin interacting with their alternate selves and deceased friends.

   The House Juju:

   -The House: A mystical location shaped like a four-wall house symbol. It holds the power to bind and control important aspects of reality. The House Juju is important to Lord English and serves as a linchpin in the story’s later cosmology.

   Other Notable Locations: -The Troll Session: The Sburb session that the Trolls played before the humans. It ends in failure but influences the human session.

   -The Human Session: The Sburb session played by the four human protagonists (John, Rose, Dave, and Jade), which ends up succeeding but with many complications due to interference from the Trolls and Jack Noir.

   -Lord English's Universe: A universe that exists beyond the standard timeline of the comic. Lord English is the ultimate villain, and much of the plot revolves around his emergence and attempts to control space-time.

   Queue Modus: Items come out in the order they were put in, like a waiting line. Hash Map Modus: Items are retrieved based on the hash value of their name. Jenga Modus: Items must be carefully removed without toppling the "tower" of items.

   -Memory Challenge: Depending on the modus, accessing items may involve solving puzzles, remembering sequences, or even playing games, turning the Sylladex into both a functional tool and a comedic obstacle for characters.

   Ejection of Items: If a character’s Sylladex is full, or if the modus creates difficulty in accessing an item, the items may be “ejected” uncontrollably, leading to horrible situations where objects are thrown all over the place.

   Strife Cards: Each character’s weapons are stored in Strife Cards, which are a bit like inventory slots for their weapons. During combat, they can deploy their weapons from these cards.

   Combat Style: Strife sequences are often presented in a stylized, video-game-like manner, with characters engaging in battle similar to RPG (role-playing game) combat. These sequences can be turn-based, involve flashy moves, and have a humorous tone, with characters sometimes overreacting or using ridiculous weaponry.

   Enemies: Characters in Homestuck fight a variety of enemies, from Underlings (monsters created by the game) to major antagonists like Jack Noir and The Black King. Strifes can occur in a variety of environments, both in the real world and the Sburb game world.

   Purpose: Strife sequences are part of how characters progress in the game of Sburb. They must engage in Strifes to defeat enemies, level up, and achieve their quests. Combat often leads to obtaining important items or fulfilling aspects of their overall journey.

For example, a player might combine a pogo hammer with a laptop to create a pogo-laptop, or mix weapons with mundane objects to get a more powerful, but often ridiculous, result.

   Upgrading Items: Alchemy allows players to upgrade their existing equipment. By combining their current weapon with more powerful or exotic items, they can enhance the weapon’s abilities or make it more unique. This is how players often create their ultimate gear.

   Absurd Creations: Due to the limitless possibilities of combining items, the process often results in strange or funny creations. For example, Dave Strider creates numerous swords and record-related items, while John Egbert alchemizes progressively bizarre variations of hammers.

   Key Examples: John’s Pogo Hammer: John combines a hammer with a pogo stick, creating the Pogo Hammer. Rose’s Needles: Rose combines her knitting needles with mystical items to create wands and other magical implements. Dave’s Swords: Dave uses alchemy to create increasingly stronger swords, combining them with different items (e.g., time-related objects).
