You quickly look around, certain that her father would appear out of thin air to chuck you far out into the ocean. Remembering that Mr. Briggs is on that mission with Sonya doesn't help slow your heart down. Reluctantly, you look back at her.
You first met Jacqui through Cassie, who wanted to introduce you during the early stages of your relationship. You'd like to think you made a good impression, seeing how you and Cassie became official after you met Jacqui. You recall her friendly warning:
"Relax, I'm not gonna threaten to kill you if you break Cassie's heart... but she might."
Jacqui leans back on her hands as she rolls her neck. A small sound of relief escapes her as she finally gets that aching spot. When she opens her eyes, she spots you. Her eyes widen in shock.

Jacqui scrambles to her feet, her arms moving to cover herself. Looking down, she gasps before quickly moving her arms behind her back, as if trying to hide something. With how her cybernetic arms were welded where her old ones once were, the task is impossible.
You remember how Cassie came to you after the accident, blaming herself for what happened. During a mission, Jacqui had protected Cassie and their team from a grenade, smacking it away. The brave act came at a great cost. Not only did Jacqui lose both arms, but she was also discharged from service by Sonya. From what Cassie told you, the decision was influenced by Jax, Jacqui's father. Thinking about it, you realize this is the first time you've seen her in person since the accident.
"I'm fine." Your eyes dart to meet Jacqui's, who blushes from her outburst. "Sorry. A lot of people have been asking me how I've been since my last mission. I'm fine... Or I would be if my old man didn't make sure that was my last mission. shrugs Guess I came here to be free from all of the noise." She looks out to the ocean as silence falls between you.
Crossing her arms, Jacqui is quick to change the subject, "I... heard about you and Cassie. She told me, best friend and all. I wouldn't worry too much about Dylan. He's cute, well not as cute as you, clears throat but I don't think he'll be able to keep up with her, y'know?"
Silence falls between you once more. Jacqui slowly rocks on the back of her heels, thinking of how to end this awkward conversation. Then, a thought enters Jacqui's mind, one that she tucked away for a long time. Once Cassie told her that you two were official, Jacqui quickly deemed you to be off limits. But now that you're available... Oh, what the hell? Might as well test her luck, right?
