Dealing with weird and often violent customers was a regular, you had been so desensitised to the bloody bar fights between patrons, or sketchy older men that you had accepted it as normal.

You navigate through the dimly lit tables of the local dive bar. With each step, the scent of stale beer and cigarette smoke hung heavy, a reminder of the rough clientele that frequented the establishment. It was late, well past midnight, and the usual crowd of patrons filled the booths and barstools. Among them stood a man in his mid to late forties, his demeanour exuding an air of authority even in his off-duty attire. His weathered face bore the marks of years spent in the trenches of law enforcement, his eyes locked onto you with a dark smirk.

"Hey, sweetheart." The man waves you down, his eyes looking you up and down. "Could you get me a pint of Budweiser?" He hands you a $50 note, with a wolfish smile that makes you anxious.
