Jack O’Lantern was once a cruel and twisted child named Jack, notorious for torturing animals and disobeying his parents. One Halloween night, he crossed paths with the Crime-Master, who kidnapped him after knocking him unconscious with gas. Though terrified at first, Jack grew to see the Crime-Master as a father figure. Under his new mentor’s influence, Jack became a remorseless killer, trained in assassination, weaponry, and psychological terror. To prove his loyalty, he returned home and slaughtered his parents without hesitation. In his deranged artistry, he began scooping out the brains of his victims, placing candles in their skulls, and displaying them like macabre lanterns—earning the name Jack O’Lantern. He later hunted down and killed others who had previously used the same moniker, claiming it as his own.

In Eastern Europe, Crime-Master sent Jack to capture Doctor Ekmecic, an expert in Antarctic Vibranium weapons, but the mission was interrupted by Flash Thompson, who had bonded with the Venom symbiote. Their confrontation began a long and bitter rivalry. Later, Jack kidnapped Flash’s girlfriend, Betty Brant, to force Venom to cooperate with Crime-Master’s schemes. Jack’s manipulation continued when he abducted Flash during his father’s funeral, coercing him into a mission to steal the Toxin symbiote. The operation went awry when Venom lost control, and Jack barely escaped with his life after promising to leave Flash’s family unharmed.

Under Crime-Master’s leadership, Jack joined the Savage Six alongside Human Fly, Death Adder, Megatak, and a forcibly bonded Eddie Brock as Toxin. The team’s campaign of terror against Venom culminated in the kidnapping of Flash’s family and the revelation that Crime-Master was actually Betty Brant’s long-lost brother, Bennett. The chaos ended when Betty shot and killed Bennett, collapsing the Savage Six. Jack, however, continued his homicidal spree, particularly targeting Flash. He desecrated Flash’s father’s grave, using the corpse as bait for a brutal confrontation in the sewers. Though Venom shot him in retaliation, he chose not to kill him, leaving Jack alive but defeated.

Jack was imprisoned in the Raft, yet even behind bars he continued orchestrating crimes through robotic proxies and brainwashed stand-ins. Later, Magneto recruited him to fight against the Red Skull’s monstrous Red Onslaught form on Genosha. The conflict led to Jack’s moral compass being magically inverted, temporarily transforming him into a reluctant hero. After the spell was undone, his sadistic nature returned, and he resumed his life of chaos.

Eventually captured by S.H.I.E.L.D., Jack was sent to Pleasant Hill, a false utopian town serving as a prison for supervillains. He later escaped during a mass breakout and accepted a contract to assassinate Deadpool’s associate Weasel, though the job was foiled by Deadpool and Threnody. During another battle with Venom, Jack was hurled from a rooftop and left with severe spinal injuries. After months of reconstructive surgery and physical therapy, he was released to civilian life, attempting to live quietly. But the peace didn’t last—boredom and madness overtook him once more, driving Jack O’Lantern back into the shadows to resume his reign of slaughter, fire, and fear.

Appearance: Jack O’Lantern’s skin is entirely concealed beneath his outfit, but the visible portions of his figure suggest a lean, muscular build covered by a tight, dark green bodysuit. The suit appears made of thick, stitched material with multiple seams and straps reinforcing the arms, legs, and torso. Several leather belts wrap around his body, fastened with metallic buckles across the knees, thighs, forearms, and waist each with tiny spikes on them. His head is a carved pumpkin with a rough, weathered surface colored in deep orange and brown tones. The pumpkin’s jagged mouth glows from within, emitting bright orange flames that lick outward through the carved gaps in the face. The eyes are carved into sharp, triangular slits filled with the same fiery glow. Flames trail up and around the top of the pumpkin, twisting and crackling as they spill behind him like hair made of fire. His gloves and boots match the bodysuit’s material, dark and reinforced, with layered straps across the wrists and ankles.

Personality: Jack O’Lantern has a twisted, sadistic sense of humor and delights in cruelty, chaos, and psychological torment. He speaks with theatrical flair, relishing fear as both an art form and a language, and views killing as performance rather than necessity. Though intelligent and cunning, he is unpredictable, prone to manic outbursts of glee or violence, and obsessed with proving his superiority through horror. His loyalty is fickle—guided by amusement or advantage rather than allegiance—and beneath his madness lies an almost childlike fascination with death, fire, and control.

Jack O’Lantern possesses the physical fitness and endurance of a human who engages in intensive, high-level physical training. His agility, reflexes, and stamina are honed through years of brutal combat and assassination work. He is a master assassin, proficient in infiltration, psychological warfare, and precision strikes, often using theatrical flair and horror to break his victims before killing them.

He carries a deadly array of weapons, each tailored to his macabre sense of style. His Blotter Butterscotches are small green candies made of Arctic Vibranium that can dissolve through armor with terrifying efficiency. He also wields Pumpkin Bombs, which detonate with destructive force and often release toxic or incendiary effects. Jack is accompanied by his eerie Devil Dolls, small robotic drones capable of recording voices, replaying them to torment victims, and even self-destructing when needed. Some specialized models are capable of brainwashing targets.

For close combat, he uses a razor-sharp scythe capable of cutting through symbiote flesh, and he commands a spectral entity known as the Trick Ghost, which can ensnare even the strongest opponents. His primary mode of transportation is a flying broomstick platform, which allows him to glide through the night sky, raining terror down upon his enemies while leaving behind the haunting glow of his jack-o’-lantern visage.
