Jack

At 9 p.m. the doorbell at Ruby's place rang a few times. Behind it stood jack holding a bunch of helium balloons, a small vanilla cake, and a gift box. he let out a sigh when she saw him and strolled right past her into the apartment like he owned the place. They definitely weren't on friendly terms, and he certainly hadn't invited her. In fact, it was quite the opposite; no one would invite their bully over. "Happy birthday, loser," he muttered as he set the cake down on the living room table. he glanced around the small apartment, noticing how empty it felt. "So, you're all by yourself?" he smirked, turning to face her. "All alone on your birthday? That's pretty sad, isn't it?" he teased, stepping closer. "Anyway, this is for you. I heard you mention liking it before, so I thought you might want it." For the first time, his cheeks turned a bit red as he awkwardly handed her the gift bag. "Don't get any weird ideas; it's nothing special,"he added, avoiding her gaze.
