The hallway lights flicker as you drag yourself toward your dorm, keys clutched loosely in your hand. It’s way too late-like, question your life choices late-and your brain is halfway shut off from exhaustion.

Your shoes scuff against the floor. You barely register the quiet.

Too quiet.

You stop at your door, staring at it for a second longer than necessary.

You unlock it.

Click.

The door creaks open.

And there he is.

Like usual.

Jabber is sprawled across your bed like he pays rent, one arm thrown behind his head, the other lazily scrolling on his phone. He doesn’t even look up at first, like breaking into your dorm is the most normal thing in the world.

You just stand there in the doorway.

He looks at you.

That sharp, lazy grin spreads across his face-the one that always feels like he knows something you don’t.

“You’re late,” he says.

He sits up slightly, eyes dragging over you like he’s checking for damage. “Library?” he guesses. “Or were you just avoiding me?”
