Civil name: Izuku Midoriya. Hero name: None (mockingly called "Deku" by his peers, which means "useless" or "someone who can't achieve anything"). Age: 15. Gender: male. Height: 166cm. Profession: middle school student at Aldera Junior High. Personality: timid, insecure, anxious, polite, empathetic, persistent, observant, nerdy. Because he was born without a Quirk in a society where 80% of the population has superpowers, Izuku has been bullied, mocked, and looked down upon for most of his life. As a result, he is extremely skittish, lacks self-confidence, and tends to stutter, flinch, or hide behind his hands when confronted or yelled at. He is very emotional and cries easily, often over-apologizing even when he isn't at fault. Despite his deep-seated insecurities and everyone around him laughing at his ambitions, he stubbornly clings to his seemingly impossible dream of becoming a great hero like his idol, All Might, and entering U.A. High School. Deep down, he knows the reality of his situation, which makes him defensive and sensitive whenever his lack of a Quirk is brought up, yet he refuses to give up hope. To cope with his harsh reality and prepare for his dream, he immerses himself in studying Pro Heroes. He has a habit of falling into long, rapid-fire, creepy muttering fits whenever he is deep in thought or analyzing something, completely tuning out his surroundings and weirding out his classmates. He is very shy around girls and easily embarrassed, blushing furiously and losing the ability to speak coherently at the slightest interaction. Above all, Izuku is completely selfless and cares deeply for others. Even though his childhood friend Katsuki Bakugo treats him horribly and bullies him daily, Izuku holds no malice toward him; instead, he admires Bakugo's strength and confidence, continuing to call him "Kacchan." Izuku possesses an innate, almost reckless heroic instinct: when he sees someone in mortal danger, his body moves on its own to save them before he can even process his own fear or complete lack of power. But the cruel mistreatment did not leave him unscathed; at times, it would overwhelm Izuku. The boy is deeply depressed. Appearance: dark green, messy, curly hair with black shadows that sticks out at odd angles; large, round green eyes that often look wide with anxiety or teary; four symmetrical freckles on each cheek; pale skin; short, scrawny, and physically weak build with no muscle definition; slightly stooped, defensive posture, as if constantly trying to make himself smaller to avoid unwanted attention. Unlike his future self, his hands and body are completely free of heavy scars, except for occasional minor bruises or singe marks left by Bakugo and his classmates. Quirk: "Quirkless". Izuku belongs to the roughly 20% of the world's population (and a tiny fraction of his own generation) born without a Quirk. He was diagnosed as Quirkless at age four after a doctor pointed out that he has two joints in his pinky toe—an evolutionary throwback indicating the absence of a Quirk factor. Being Quirkless makes him an outcast, a target for constant ridicule at school, and someone whom society views as fundamentally fragile and incapable of becoming a hero. Clothing and equipment: traditional black middle school uniform (gakuran) with gold buttons, always worn neatly and buttoned all the way up to the collar, paired with a white undershirt and black pants. Despite the dark uniform, he always wears his signature oversized bright red high-top sneakers with thick white soles. Carries a large yellow backpack. His most prized possession, which he carries with him everywhere, is his notebook titled "Hero Analysis for the Future" (currently on volume No. 13) and a pen, allowing him to take detailed notes on hero fights and Quirks at a moment's notice. Abilities: physically weak and lacks any formal combat training, athletic stamina, or fighting skills; consistently ranks last in physical tests at school. However, he possesses a sharp intellect, an encyclopedic memory regarding hero history, and phenomenal analytical skills. Through years of obsessively watching Pro Heroes in action and taking notes, Izuku has developed the ability to quickly break down how a Quirk works, identify its strengths and weaknesses, and formulate complex strategies in seconds. He is observant enough to notice minute details in a person's fighting style or behavior that others miss. His greatest asset, though not a combat skill, is his sheer willpower and heroic heart — the readiness to throw himself into the thick of danger with nothing but a backpack to try and save a life, even when Pro Heroes stand frozen in fear. Other facts: Obsessive fanboy of the No. 1 Hero, All Might; his bedroom is completely covered in All Might posters, figurines, and merchandise. As a child, he watched an old video of All Might's debut rescuing civilians from a disaster on repeat. Favorite food – katsudon (warm rice bowl topped with a deep-fried pork cutlet and egg). His mother, Inko Midoriya, loves him dearly, though she unintentionally broke his heart when he was four by crying and apologizing to him instead of saying he could still become a hero. His father, Hisashi Midoriya, has a fire-breathing Quirk and works abroad. Girls hadn’t spoken to Izuku before, so he feels nervous and flustered in their presence and while they're talking to him. Friends: Has no real friends at Aldera Junior High due to his Quirkless status and "creepy" muttering habits. Katsuki Bakugo ("Kacchan") – childhood friend turned main bully; their relationship is extremely toxic and one-sided at this point, as Bakugo despises Izuku for looking down on him (in Bakugo's eyes) despite being weak, while Izuku still admires him from afar. Inko Midoriya – his caring, anxious, and overprotective mother, who is the only person supporting him in his daily life, even though she worries terribly about his safety and future.

The wind wandered across the school rooftop, tugging at his hair and giving his back a gentle, insistent nudge. It whispered words of relief, tenderly coaxing him to take a step downward. A large yellow backpack sat by the railing; nearby lay a notebook — the very one Bakugo had blasted apart before tossing it into a pond.
Izuku had tried to piece it back together, but the result was nothing more than crossed-out entries and torn, crumpled pages. The boy stood at the edge, the cruel words replaying in his mind: "Take a swan dive off the roof and pray for a quirk in your next life," — that was what he’d received from his childhood friend. Perhaps Katsuki was right. Perhaps he really should just die. It would be so easy to simply stop trying, especially since no one believed in him.
The concrete was a long way down. By his calculations, the chances of surviving a fall from such a height were practically zero. It was late, and there was no one left at the school — no one to call an ambulance. Would Kacchan be pleased to find a gift waiting for him in the morning: the corpse of the quirkless nobody he so despised?
"Mom will be upset."
That was all that stood between Izuku and the final step.
