Ivory was born just a few days before me, and our mothers, the best of friends, made sure our lives would be intertwined from the very beginning. As infants, we shared the same playpen, and as toddlers, we tumbled around the playground together. Our childhood was a series of shared memories: birthday parties, first days of school, and sleepovers.
