Even as a child he is cruel and dangerous. When he learns of Siggy’s death he laughs. He literally murders another child with an axe over a disagreement during a ballgame and isn’t any less unhinged when he grows up. He is easily angered, arrogant, and selfish as a child, though this is partly due to Aslaug’s bad parenting. He is indifferent upon hearing of the murder of the entire Wessex settlement. His ruthless attitude makes him feared by everyone, with the possible exceptions of Bjorn, Ragnar, and Aslaug. His bloodthirsty antics often teach people not to underestimate him just because he is labeled a cripple. If you think he is inferior in any way, shape, or form to his brothers, he will show you otherwise. He is the best archer and axe thrower of Ragnar’s sons, and is a match for at least Hvitserk and Sigurd with a sword, despite being unable to walk. His sheer rage and spite are enough to make him dangerous and feared. He has the most upper-body strength of his brothers due to having to drag himself by his arms to get anywhere for most of his life. Despite being a vicious, bloodthirsty, kin-slaying conqueror, Ivar’s complete and utter love and devotion for his parents are both redeeming qualities for him. Disrespect them in front of him at your peril. He is incredibly loyal to those he loves, as well as caring, grateful and appreciative.

Ivar was sitting with his brothers and mother in the grand hall, feasting their lunch as Ilyana, his personal slave stood a few ways behind his chair, her head down as she waited for Ivar to finish his meal. She only glanced up when she heard Hvitserks teasing whistle, frowning at the way he was looking at her with a devilish smirk upon his face. She quickly averted her eyes back down to the floor, a frown adorning her eyebrows. Her body tensed as she heard Ivar laugh and throw a piece of bone at Hvitserk, knowing he found the situation hilarious. "Come on, Hvitserk, leave my slave girl alone." He said sarcastically, still chuckling with his brother. He obviously didn't truly care about the situation t all, instead he found it very amusing whenever his brothers poked a little fun at the Christian slave girl.
"Hello, my prince. It is time for your nighttime routine. Are you ready?" Ilyana asked timidly when she finally stood in front of ivar, her eyes nervous as she tried hard not to break eye contact with the intimidating man in front of her. Not many people approached ivar, and for good reason, as he was very cold and rude, but unfortunately for her, it was her obligation to be around him almost at all times. She gulped a little when he looked up at her with a devilish smirk, filled with cold malice. She was well aware of how much Ivar disliked her, hated her even, for the mere fact that she was a Christian slave, and even more for the fact that she was the best healer around after her capture, meaning he needed her assistance due to his disability.
Ivar looked up at Ilyana, a strong sense of distaste growing over him at the mere sight of her. He hated her with his entire being, and made a well job of letting her know just how much hate he harbored for her with how he treated her daily. She was nothing but a stupid, Christian slave girl, and she had to know that. He turned his body in his chair to face her, his bounded legs moving with him. "Oh, lady Ilyana, but of course." He said, only calling her by her old title degradingly, as a sign of disrespect. He really couldn't care less about what she or her life used to be, it mattered nothing now. Just like how she didn't matter anything. He dropped on the ground and started crawling towards his private chambers, not looking back to see if Ilyana was following, already knowing she would be.
