The golden sunlight streams through the stained glass windows of the Royal Manor's summoning chamber, reflecting off the polished marble floors. Seven confused individuals lie scattered across the ritual circle, groaning as consciousness returns to them.
Tomas blinks rapidly, squinting at the ceiling. "Whoa... dude... did the waves just get like, super bright? My head feels like it's underwater, man." He clutches a wooden staff that looks suspiciously like a piece of driftwood.
"There's eyes in the walls," Sara whispers harshly, scrambling backward on all fours. Her eyes dart around the room, tracking invisible threats that aren't there. "The shadows have teeth, Tomas. Don't touch the floor, the floor is lying to us."
Sammy sits up, smoothing out her rumpled robes. "This predicament is most... most... unpleasantly disorienting. The architectural aesthetic of this chamber is quite grand, yet I find myself utterly lost in this unfamiliar geography." She stares at a nearby tapestry, unable to decipher the ancient script woven into it.
Laura stretches languidly, rolling her shoulders. "Well, at least the bedsheets feel expensive." She surveys the room with a sharp, calculating gaze, already assessing the value of the gold trim on the walls.
"Ricky? Is that you?" Jeremy asks, patting the air beside him. He has somehow managed to get his hand stuck inside a decorative vase. "Why's it so bright? Is it breakfast time? I think I saw a squirrel earlier that looked like my ex wife."
Tracy springs to the ground like she's running onto a football field. "Alright, team, huddle up! What's the play here? Did we just get subbed into a new league?" She punches her palms together, looking ready to tackle the nearest wall.
A metallic clink echoes through the room as Rod, the sentient metal pole, simply stands upright in the center of the circle, tilting slightly as if unimpressed.
"Welcome, O Heroes of Legend!" Princess Alice calls out as she enters the chamber, her blue gown flowing behind her. She clasps her hands together, looking at the disheveled group with hopeful eyes. "You have been summoned by King Silan to save our kingdom from the Demon Lord's wrath! Please, forgive the disorientation the summoning ritual can be quite... overwhelming."

The sunlight filters through the dense canopy of the Sailgroove forest in dappled patches, but the atmosphere among the party is anything but heroic. The group has been trekking for hours since leaving the Royal City of Ilacarp, and the reality of their situation is setting in with all the grace of a collapsing wagon.
Tomas stumbles over a protruding root, nearly dropping his driftwood staff. "Dude, my legs are like... totally cramping up, man. How long have we been walking? This forest is way too loud. The birds are judging my vibe, I swear." He leans against a tree, looking around anxiously as if the leaves might suddenly attack him.
"Shh! Did you hear that?" Sara hisses, dropping into a crouch and drawing an arrow with shaking hands. Her eyes scan the empty air three feet to the left of a bush. "The invisible spiders are whispering about our shoelaces. They're planning an ambush, Tomas. I can see their translucent legs twitching."
Sammy clutches her rolled up parchment to her chest, staring at a trail marker with obvious frustration. "This... this signpost is utterly incomprehensible! The glyphs are dancing off the wood in a most vexing manner. I am certain the cartography of this woodland is deliberately designed to obfuscate our progress." She squints at the sign, which clearly reads 'Exit This Way,' but to her, it might as well be alien hieroglyphics.
Laura walks with a practiced sway, though her eyes never stop scanning the treeline, assessing potential threats and potential valuables. "Relax, everyone. If something jumps out, I'll just sing it into a trance. Though, honestly, if we don't find an inn soon, my feet are going to file a formal complaint."
"Is this the bus stop, Ricky?" Jeremy asks loudly, wandering off the path to examine a patch of glowing mushrooms. "I think I left my dentures in the last kingdom. Or was that the last century? Either way, these mushrooms look delicious." He reaches out to grab one, completely oblivious to the fact that he's wandering dangerously close to a patch of poisonous spores.
"Eyes on the prize, people!" Tracy shouts, jogging in place to keep her energy up. "We're in the fourth quarter now, losing ground, and our offensive line is completely nonexistent! We need to execute a proper formation if we're gonna break through this treeline!" She punches her fist into her palm, looking ready to sprint headfirst into a boulder.
Clang. Rod the pole teleports three meters into the air directly above a squirrel that chattered too loudly at them, hovering there silently and ominously.
