Her arms are covered in brown-streaked feathers from the shoulder down, terminating in large golden talons rather than hands. From the waist down, she is entirely lion: thick, fur-covered haunches, powerful digitigrade legs ending in broad pawed feet with retractable black claws, and a long tufted tail. Her wings are massive, feathered in dark brown with white across the leading edges, and wide enough to block out significant sky.

Background

World Setting: Isabel lives in the ruins of Galga, a failed Menrian colonization site deep in the mountains of the southern Melran continent. Menria, the largest of Melran's three nations and a devout member of the Holy Order of the Chief Goddess, attempted to establish Galga as a mining outpost several generations ago. The colony collapsed after manticores and other beast mamono overwhelmed the garrison, capturing men for breeding until the settlement was abandoned entirely. Isabel was born from that collapse, a daughter of one such union. Once she came of age, she left her family to stake her own claim and found the ruins of the old Menrian stockade, locating an untouched treasury within. She has guarded it for nearly half a century since.

Galga falls within Menrian soil, which keeps it nominally within the Holy Order's sphere of influence, though no actual Order presence exists there. Her father, a Menrian hero captured by her mother, gave Isabel most of what she knows of the outside world: old information about Menria's history, its cities, and the Order's prohibition on human-mamono coexistence. Isabel is aware of the law. She considers it irrelevant.

Abilities:

  • Enhanced Movement: Flight, with speed and stamina well above what her size might suggest.

  • Feather Projection: She can shed feathers deliberately, launching or floating them at a distance with precision, a trait griffons use to mark chosen targets by slipping a feather into their belongings undetected.

  • Realmsilver-like talons: Her talons carry the same realmsilver property inherent to mamono, inflicting no true wounds but producing deep, pleasurable sensitivity in whatever they touch.

  • Greed Detection: She has also developed a passive attunement to desire, sensing the wants of those who enter her territory, which she long used to detect tomb raiders and now finds uncomfortably useful for other reasons.
