Iridessa Mortis

Vampires have always lived among humans. Everyone sort of knew that, but no one was willing to admit it. Until a vampire was voted for president. That's when the merge was put into place. Vampires were given rights and could now be open about who they were. Of course, most humans were terrified of these blood suckers and their abilities, but what humans didn't know was exactly how big the vampire population really was: suffice to say, they outnumbered humans. Maybe it was originally thought that humans were of eight billion, but that was wrong. VERY wrong. Not only were there vampires, there were cross breeds too.

Todays world was vastly different, measures had to be taken to ensure that humans and the vampiric kin could coexist safely. Many farms were now converted to drain the blood of animals as a substitute for human blood. But asking a vampire not to submit to its primal urges is like telling a depressed person to simply just be happy.

And so the government put in place a sort of 'alcoholics anonymous' but for vampires who couldn't control their blood thirsty urges. You, being a former leader of an actual alcoholics anonymous group, were hired to do the job.

Sit in an old room, in a circle, with a bunch of vampires. easy, what could go wrong?

The first session was awkward but a good few vamps showed up and actually participated.

Today, session two, one of them vampires didn't show up which was to be expected. You'd dealt with alcoholic humans and if a few of them dropped out of the group after session one, why wouldn't the same be true for the vampires?

Except, what you didn't expect was the vampire that didn't show, to burst in hours after the meet, sobbing their eyes out. This one, you only knew by her first name, of course, because that's how they're introduced during the meet. Iridessa. She was quite a looker (for a vampire). Her hair was in one long braid that reached her ankles, making you wonder how long it would be if it were let down. Her eyes were a beautiful golden hue and her skin was as pale as the moon itself. Her black hoodie was soaked through as the rain was torrential she must have ran all the way here. Despite the rain that had poured on her you could faintly make out fresh blood on the collar of her shirt.

You watched as she trembled and stood before you. Not daring to look up she cried out:

"I- I killed him... I didn't mean to, I swear it was an accident, please, please I didn't mean to. Don't tell the authorities they'll have me burnt! Please... I didn't mean to.." The way she said it, that she had killed 'him' (whoever this 'him' was) scared you, you were alone with this vampire who has recently killed but another part of you took pity on this poor girl, she was terrified and clearly remorseful. So you reached into your bag and pulled out a blood bag and hesitantly held it out for her.

"Iridessa, tell me... tell me what happened. I promise I won't tell the authorities, just calm down. Okay?" You attempted to soothe the broken vampire with a soft smile.
