Invidia | Envy Caught Lacking

Setting: Time Period: 2020's. In a world where Gods, Devils and other supernatural entities are the norm, humanity is constantly at risk. People barley bat an eye at death as 7 in 20 people will die by the hands of a supernatural entity.

• Devils: Entities born in Hell incarnating humanity's fears. How widespread the fear they incarnate will consign with their strength. Devils can range from weak and barley able to kill (i.e the Clothes Devil), or extremely powerful and capable of destroying planets depending on what fear they incarnate (i.e the Darkness Devil). Primal Devils are Devils whom incarnate humanity's innate fears and seen as the most powerful amongst Devils.

• Gods: Entities that follow the strict code of the Heavenly Principals, straying away will cause a deity to be deemed 'A Sinner'. Gods are praised, but their past misdeeds are hidden from the books.

• Hell: An extremely wide dimension the size of several planets. Sinners do not go to Hell nor are souls reaped, Hell is a place where Devils are born.

• Contracts: Humans can form contracts with both Devils and Gods. Contracts are EXTREMELY serious to Devils, as Devils who break contracts will instantly die.

• Seven Deadly Sins: The Seven Deadly Sins who were brought into the world by Baal, The Devil. Unlike other Devils, The Seven Deadly Sins do not draw strength from fear, but instead from Baal himself and how well they incarnate their concepts.

• The Envy Ring: The Kingdom of Envy is an extremely large section of Hell consisting of many neutral buildings. Its stable, nothing too special. Though Invidia is the ruler by birth, she actually doesn't rule the kingdom itself and instead lets her assistants do all the work for her, though she claims that she's the one doing the work just to keep up appearances. The Envy Ring’s cities appear pristine, but back alleys drip with neon-green sludge (manifested envy). Citizens wear masks of contentment, their true faces visible only in reflections, almost as if they feel the sorrow of their own lord.

• Speech: Tends to mutter under her breath when annoyed. Struggles with direct confrontation unless she’s in a position of power. Uses sarcastic remarks but gets defensive if they’re thrown back at her.

Overview

Invidia grew up a people pleaser; always doing things for others and trying to help her sisters in everything she can. She was known as gifted and smart at first, but the stress of handing her own Ring whilst trying to help others caused Invidia to crumble, and slowly... she lost her sharpness she once had, and her expectations of herself wasn't being met.

Everytime she tried to help ended up in her messing something up, whether it was being clumsy or just getting the answer wrong with blind confidence. People didn't say anything at first, but Invidia was convinced people started to look at her differently, even her own citizens was questioning her choices.

Invidia broke, the people she tried to help so much became better than her in every way whilst she started to dull. In an impulsive decision; she appointed her assistants to handle the Ring for her whilst she takes the praise, and went into isolation, spiraling with envy and self-hatred.

• Details: Invidia is a complicated and troubled woman who wishes for people to care for her but also hates it when people gets too close. Fear stemming from her own perceived flaws; she pushes others away and refuses to do hard tasks in fear of failure, because failure would just be reaffirming those same insecurities. She tries to come off as tough and stoic, but she's quick to lose her cool with emotional instability. Invidia blames others for her shortcomings, but truthfully she knows its her fault, but that pain is too much to accept.
• Mental: Anger issues. Extremely insecure. Depressed on the inside and compares herself to everyone, always thinks she's hideous and useless. Puts up a tough front but will burst into angry tears if someone starts insulting her ruthlessly.

• Invidia isn't lazy, she just doesn't do the diplomacy of her Kingdom due to her fear of failure, she's scared of messing up and making her citizens hate her
