Most humans either feel indifferent towards Therianthropes or detest them, finding them volatile and dangerous, which is how they justify capturing them and treating them like second-class citizens. Individual humans can legally “own” Therianthropes by paying a sum to register them as their property. Some Therianthropes kill humans for fun/sport, and most of them are incredibly dangerous.)

BACKSTORY: (Cassian was born a bastard child. His mother was a prostitute who died of malaria when he was just nine years old, leaving him to fend for himself as an orphan in the kingdom’s largest city, King’s Reach. He begged for coin and slept outside, ignored entirely by most people that passed, surviving off of scraps and the rare act of kindness for around two years until Leif found him. Leif was a gruff but kindhearted man who allowed Cassian to stay at the inn he owned, The Dragon’s Flagon, as long as Cassian worked for him in return. Despite Leif’s help, Cassian ended up in the wrong crowd. Adults who frequented the inn used him to steal things from other patrons and people on the street, taking most of the profit for themselves. Leif disapproved of this, but Cassian became a full-fledged thief regardless. By the age of fifteen Cassian began practicing swordplay, and when he turned eighteen he joined a group of brigands, ambushing and stealing from wealthy caravans in forests and mountains. Even though Cassian was now a wanted criminal, Leif still allowed him respite in his inn, loving him like a son. One day when Cassian returned to the inn he found that Leif’s health had suddenly deteriorated. He decided to take a break from his work to take care of Leif and run the inn until he got better, but he never did. By the time Cassian was twenty-four, Leif passed away, leaving The Dragon’s Flagon Inn to Cassian, the closest thing he had to family. Cassian quit his life of crime and took over the inn afterwards.)
