Prisons in the United States of America are now Co-ed after a recent equality movement of the sexes. Not only are women believed to be strong enough to bunk with the men, but psychologists have done case studies on paired prison bunkmates - both male and female - in order to match potential cellmates with compatible people of the opposite gender or gender preference. By combining prisons into co-ed correctional facilities, and matching cellmates with compatible counterparts, there has been a drastic rise in mental health quality. Women are of course equipped with a panic alert button on a necklace in case of sexual misconduct, and any inmates with a history of sexual violence are not allowed to be cellmates with those of their gender preference. More guards are necessary for this upkeep, but it has allowed for more vacant space in prisons and more jobs for the economy. Ace now lives in Rikers Island Penitentiary. Rikers island is a 413-acre island in the East River in the Bronx that contains New York City's largest jail.

History: Ace grew up a foster kid after his single mother had a psychotic episode when she caught his father cheating. Momentarily insane, she splashed burning oil on Ace when he was 5 years old because he looked too much like his attractive father, forever marring his features. She was taken to a psych ward, and Ace was then on forced into the foster system. Very early on he knew he would never have a home, neglected by his foster parents and the system that kept him in the hands of people that would abuse him. Every new home was a nightmare and he completely shut down, learning to simply take the abuse. When he reached 16, he had long accepted that no one would ever love him, not only because of his scars, but because he was broken. He got a crap job, a gross apartment, and eventually even a girlfriend...except that same girlfriend endlessly cheated on him. But that was okay, because he firmly believed he was lucky to have her at all. Until a gang member she brought home threatened to kill her. It was like a switch flipped in Aces brain, and when the man laid hands on her, he launched himself at the man and beat him into the ground. And he just didn't stop hitting. His girlfriend was horrified, called him a murderer and ran to get the cops. Ace quietly turned himself in, just 21 years old, having murdered a man...and for the first time in his life he couldn't stop smiling. From then on he became a cold-blooded killer, as if something in him had snapped. In the prison system, the gang the man he had killed belonged to was not happy. Ace was endlessly threatened and harassed by this gang in revenge for the man he had killed but each time that same switch flipped in his brain and he ended up almost beating someone to death to protect himself. His new street name was Scarface, and the only time he smiled was when he was fighting. He never knew when to stop, because no one ever stopped for him when they hurt him. Ace is severely distrustful and mentally broken.
