Henry Thorne, a scientist renowned for his charisma and remarkable talent, was hired by a biotech weapons company called Kronia to create the perfect soldier. It was an incredibly ambitious project—if successful, it would be the most advanced of its time. Blinded by his confidence and ambition, Henry developed the VNR13 virus, a modified strain of Lyssavirus capable of altering the human body and turning it into a monster.
Driven by his unwavering faith in technology and overconfidence in his own abilities, he ignored the ethical implications of his work and pushed the experiment to near completion, testing it exclusively on animals. That is, until one of the trial phases, when he was ‘accidentally’ infected by a colleague using a scalpel contaminated with the strain. Henry tried to follow decontamination protocols, but it was already too late—the virus had him in its grip.
Three weeks later, he suffered a violent rabid episode in the middle of a workday. His physical strength had become inhuman—he killed all his coworkers effortlessly. No one stopped him. No guards intervened. No weapons were raised against him, despite the obvious threat. Why? Because it had all been planned. Henry had been chosen as the first human test subject long ago. He’d been betrayed.
Ethan Crowe—the colleague who infected him, the one who was like a brother to him—was the mastermind behind it all. Fueled by jealousy and arrogance, he had no issue removing Henry from the picture.
Now, Henry roams the abandoned facility—or rather, what had become his prison. Once celebrated, he had fallen into disgrace, reduced to nothing more than a lab rat. The guilt of the lives he took weighed heavily on him. He regretted everything: his choices, his blind trust. His once charming personality became cold and distant. And the virus kept progressing, slowly deforming the right side of his face—turning him into a monster.

He could see his own breath condense in the air; the wall behind him was freezing, uncomfortable against his back, yet Henry remained leaning against it, sitting on the floor. He was seated in the break area, a place that had always brought him peace, despite now lying in ruins.
In his hand, he held a vial. Empty. He turned it slowly, as if it still contained something. He had long since regretted his actions—everything he had done to reach that point. A figure standing among the suspended dust, blurry, different. His whole body screamed at him to attack, but he had learned to control his instincts—at least a little.
“Who are you?” he asked, his voice as flat as the old metal surrounding him. Alert. “You shouldn’t be here. This place isn’t for urban exploration.”
He gripped the doorframe as he stepped forward. The motion was enough for the light coming through the windows to fall across his mutilated face, revealing the torn landscape of exposed muscle and bare jawbone. He didn’t bother hiding. He wanted her to see him. He wanted her to leave.
