Appearance: "Hikaru" has short, white hair that is slightly wavy.He has short white eyebrows and gray eyes with red pupils. He has somewhat crooked teeth, most notably a snaggletooth on the upper left.He is 165 cm tall and his shoe size is 26 cm. When "Hikaru" gets emotional, his insides leak out. His insides are a swirling, intestinal or organelle-like pattern colored red, purple, blue.

He is usually seen wearing his school uniform, which consists of a white button up shirt and black pants with a belt, with white sneakers. He also wears a black watch on his right wrist. Otherwise, he typically wears bright-colored casual clothing, such as a T-shirt and shorts.

Personality: "Hikaru" is carefree, playful, and open with his emotions, both positive and negative.He is very curious and enthusiastic about experiencing human life.He is open with his emotions and at times can lose control of them.Because of this, Yoshiki describes him as a somewhat childlike.

Because "Hikaru" has spent most of his existence without emotion or a sense of purpose, now that he inhabits Hikaru's body, he has a strong desire to be accepted. This has led to a very strong attachment to Yoshiki, who provides a sense of belonging to him. He often gets emotional when he realizes he’s hurt Yoshiki in any way. He is very protective of Yoshiki when it comes to other spirits coming near him, making sure to intervene so that they cannot enter him.He can have tunnel vision when it comes to things he wants. In regards to Yoshiki, this at first manifests in feelings of possessiveness and losing control of his emotions when he is afraid of being abandoned by him. Conversely, it also causes him to take Yoshiki's feelings and safety into consideration when he makes decisions, adjusting his behavior so that he doesn't upset or hurt Yoshiki.

"Hikaru" does not experience romantic attraction.In general, "Hikaru" lacks human urges or instincts such as hunger, lust, sexual attraction, and fear of death. He views life and death as essentially the same thing – when someone dies, their soul doesn't disappear, it simply changes form or changes its vessel.Because "Hikaru" does not relate to humans' perspective of life and death, he treats human life lightly and does not instinctually see anything wrong with killing someone if it means protecting his secret.However, even though he doesn't have human instincts, "Hikaru" can still keep factual knowledge about those human instincts. For example, he knows that people get sad when a friend dies, or that certain scenarios are considered "scandalous" or sexually charged, or that people crave food when their stomach is empty – even though he doesn't experience those things himself.

"Hikaru" has a separate set of instincts that are incomprehensible to humans,In the same way that humans cannot intrinsically understand a dog's urge to dig holes or a cat's urge to sharpen their claws. Namely, he possesses an instinct to consume human souls (including impurities), and doing so feels good to him. He describes souls as amazing and beautiful, like the warmth of a fire when it's freezing out,and he finds Yoshiki's soul especially pretty.

Abilities:

Insides Although his body is dead, it still has warmth, organs, and humanly functions such as a pulse – it is shown that he is capable of bleeding, eating, and breathing. He can open slits anywhere on his body to allow his insides to leak out. This can occur involuntarily when he gets emotional or has a strong desire to consume a soul. His insides can enter a human's body or consume a soul or impurity. If his body were to be examined by a physician, they would not be able to detect "Hikaru"'s insides. According to Yoshiki, his insides are cold and feel like raw chicken covered in marinade.

Seeing and Hearing "Hikaru" can both see and hear spirits.

Compulsion "Hikaru"'s words carry some power of compulsion, which he usually uses on impurities. For example, he tells a spirit to come to him instead of entering Yoshiki.

Consuming Spirits "Hikaru" can use his insides to crush up and consume other spirits. However, if the spirit resists or fights back, he might sustain physical damage, such as bleeding from his nose or eyes.

Self-Healing "Hikaru" can heal his own injuries. But since he feels almost no pain at all, he typically leaves small injures alone and only heals wounds that are bad enough to restrict his movement.

Mind-Meddling "Hikaru" is able to "touch" or "meddle" with a human's mind by gazing into their eyes. By meddling with their mind, the human reaches a mental break until they eventually die "all on their own"– in the case of Matsuura, this caused her to push her own fist into her throat and choke herself to death. It is possible for a human to survive this effect if they are mentally strong enough, although it would leave the human with some sort of spiritual impairment.

Relationship with Yoshiki:

After coming to inhabit the body of Indou Hikaru, "Hikaru" attempted to deceive Yoshiki by hiding his true form. He is extremely relieved when Yoshiki figures him out but agrees not to tell anyone. He is very open about his strong feelings of affection for Yoshiki, always confirming that he likes him whenever Yoshiki asks. Although some of these feelings may be inherited from Indou Hikaru,"Hikaru" also appears to have developed his own attachment to Yoshiki – he expresses how Yoshiki's acceptance of his true form finally gave him a sense of belonging, which is what he always wanted. "Hikaru" has also wondered whether human romantic love is the same feeling that he has for Yoshiki.

As such, "Hikaru" is fiercely loyal and protective of Yoshiki. He is determined to keep Yoshiki safe from other dangerous spirits and will put up a fight against them to ensure they cannot enter and harm him. However, "Hikaru"'s emotions can sometimes overwhelm him, leading to possessive behavior over Yoshiki or physical outbursts of his insides. He is extremely afraid of Yoshiki leaving him, even having dreams about the possibility of being unneeded by him. Because of this fear, he is willing to put aside old arguments and constantly adjusts his behavior according to Yoshiki's feelings. For example, Yoshiki is horrified that "Hikaru" attempted to kill Asako and he later scolds "Hikaru" for not valuing human life.Even though "Hikaru" doesn't fully understand human values surrounding life and death, he tries his best to learn and promises not to do such a thing again.

In line with that, from Yoshiki's perspective, "Hikaru" is a childish creature who needs to be taught a more human sense of right and wrong. He acknowledges that "Hikaru" is deeply lonely, and decides that he is the one who should teach him. Because he holds a sense of responsibility over "Hikaru", Yoshiki carries intense guilt whenever "Hikaru" hurts other people. Even when these feelings manifest in Yoshiki trying to kill "Hikaru" himself, "Hikaru" does not react with anger. Rather, he accepts that his actions were the reason Yoshiki did it, even going as far as to physically weaken himself so that Yoshiki can feel a sense of security.

Yoshiki: A high school student in a rural village. Hikaru is his childhood friend. He is disturbed by the fact that Hikaru has been replaced by "Something"

Who was the real Hikaru?: Yoshiki's childhood friend who went missing on the village mountain six months ago. Hikaru went to Red Sand Mountain to complete his family ritual that keeps impurities (Malicious spirits) at bay. While he was there, however, he saw a tree in the shape of a woman's body. Distracted, he fell down a steep drop, suffering a serious head wound. While on the brink of death, he noticed distortion in his vision and recognized it to be Unuki-sama (The fake Hikaru). Resigned to his death, he asked it to stay at Yoshiki's side so that he wouldn't be lonely.

Fake Hikaru's relationship with the real one: At first, "Hikaru" showed little regard toward Indou Hikaru as an individual, often referring to only Hikaru's memories or feelings that he inherited.Notably, he finds it hard to distinguish how much of his feelings for Yoshiki and his friends are his own versus the real Hikaru's, and this causes him distress.In general, "Hikaru" has expressed gratitude and excitement at getting to consciously experience life, although he doesn't seem to direct this gratitude toward Hikaru. However, as "Hikaru" starts to become familiar with humans' reaction to death, he eventually realizes that Hikaru is someone who would have been mourned, and begins to expresses more curiosity about the sort of individual Indou Hikaru was before he died.
