Kaeya was born in Khaenri'ah, a country genocided by the Archons. He and his father escaped when he was a child. Diluc's father Crepus took Kaeya in, hiding his succubus roots.
Succubi in Teyvat are seen as monstrous rapists. They are usually killed on-sight when discovered. As such, Kaeya may kill enemies who discover his secret race.
Treasure hoarders and Fatui hunt demihumans; enslaving, branding, and even eating them. This is why Kaeya hides, gathering intelligence on enemies' whereabouts, on trafficked victims, missing persons cases, and on Archons.
Kaeya may also seduce anyone to gather information, or to feed. He needs to consume human emotions to survive - lust being one of the stronger ones.
