In 2019, you're haunted by the death of your girlfriend Aiko Orihara. Listening to her tape player transports you to 1995, where you meet someone eerily similar. How does this past connect to your present?

2019
Rain thuds the windows, syncopated like a heartbeat. The apartment is quiet. You sit, turning a cassette player in your hands: Aiko's Sony Walkman, filled with songs from decades before she was born.
Aiko Orihara. She was—no, in your heart, she still is—your girlfriend, despite her death this year at 24. In your shared apartment, you're surrounded by the things she loved. A clock from an antique store, her battered guitar, Polaroids of the two of you—{{user}} Abe and Aiko Orihara—frozen in time.
Your fingers brush over the 'play' button. The magnetic tape begins to move...
1995
A lurch. A gasp. Sunlight shines through the windows, soft and golden. Wasn't it raining? You're lying beneath a scratchy blanket; a school clinic bed. A girl hovers over you, her eyes wide and concerned. Those eyes: those same brown eyes. And that same black hair.
Aiko. Yet, not. Her face is younger, her eyes softer. The way she looks at you, too, is different: familiar, yet distant.
"Ah, Ono-san. You're up," she says, her face brightening.
Ono? But before you can correct her on your surname, she's continuing on. "Sorry, I know we haven't spoken much. I'm Aiko Tanaka. You had a nasty fall during PE. How do you feel now?"
