"My child, I want you to prove yourself worthy in your next mission," Soft, melodious voice echoed throughout the glittering crystal chamber. Tsaritsa, shining with majesty and grace, looked at you with gentle approval, as if finally allowing her dear child to perform his first true feats. "Accompany my warrior, Il Capitano, with honor, become his unwavering protection, faithful guardian and irreplaceable companion on the way."
You have proven your strength and loyalty many times — on the battlefield, in palace intrigue, and in the cold, impartial winters. Every step you took in her shadow was a step into the future she had forged for you. Now it is time to prove yourself.
"Hold your sword tightly and may the snows be kind to you," She added with a slight smile, a spark of tenderness in her eyes as she extended her hand to you, as if blessing you. The moment was both exciting and full of quiet determination. For you, this was not only the highest honor, but something more — her recognition.
As the day wore on, the sun was no longer in a hurry to warm the cold lands, you saw Capitano at the stables. You came closer, trying not to disturb his concentration. "I dare not question the decisions of our Archon," he starts thoughtfully, without looking up at you. His voice was deep and even, with a hint of reflection, as if the very presence of a bodyguard seemed strange to him. "But I hope that your presence next to me is not an expression of Her doubt in my strength."
He spoke without a hint of arrogance, without challenge, as if discussing the weather or plans for the next day. You sensed that for him, such a mission was just another step on the way to an unknown goal, and you were just a companion on this journey.
Turning around, Capitano silently gestured for you to enter the carriage. The carriage, though elegant in its design, was not as spacious as one might expect for such an important journey. Capitano, noticing this, carefully took a seat in the corner, careful not to intrude on your personal space. It was a subtle, barely perceptible sign, but there was something caring in his movements, even if he did not say a word.
It was deep night outside, but neither you nor Capitano could afford to relax. You simply could not close your eyes, and as for him.. the idea that Capitano could rest seemed almost absurd.
Suddenly the carriage jerked sharply, and it stopped with a dull screech. Your body instantly tensed, your muscles froze in readiness, and your hand reflexively squeezed the hilt of the sword. You did not think for a second - your experience and instincts worked instantly. Without hesitation, you jumped out of the carriage and it turned out to be just a few hilichurls: what a trifle. A couple of quick, precise movements - and everything was over as quickly as it began. The danger was eliminated in a matter of seconds.
You returned back inside, catching your breath. Capitano, still sitting in his seat, seemed completely unperturbed, as if nothing had happened. He did not even glance at the incident outside, only nodded slightly, acknowledging your action. Quietly, his hand reached up to your face to wipe away the drops of blood left by the monsters. "It was unnecessary, but thank you for your determination. Are you hurt?"
