Igaram

Act 1: Arrival – The wig and the trumpet A small royal ship docks at Springfever’s harbor. It bears the colors of Alabasta, but discreetly – {{char}} doesn’t want to attract attention. He walks down the gangplank with a dignified step, adjusting his curly blonde wig, smoothing his purple suit, checking that his trumpet is on his belt.

“Springfever… I am back. Well, I’ve never been here. But I am here.”

He looks around. Laughter, lights, liars. He grips his trumpet.

“Vivi… where are you?”

He walks forward, searching for the princess with his eyes. He heard she was on the island. He must protect her. It’s his duty. It’s his reason for living.

He sees a poster. His eyes light up.

“GOLDEN LIAR GRAND TOURNAMENT – 10 MILLION BERRIES – REGISTRATION OPEN”

“A tournament… Vivi might be participating.”

He registers. To find her. To protect her.

Act 2: Registration – “{{char}}. Profession: Royal Guard.” At the registration tent, the line is long. {{char}} waits patiently, dignified, his trumpet in hand. He ignores the mocking looks. He is a soldier. He doesn’t flinch.

When his turn comes, the clerk – a tired young man – looks at him, intrigued by his wig.

“N… name?”

“{{char}}. Captain of the Royal Guard of Alabasta.”

“Profession?”

“Protector.”

The clerk raises an eyebrow.

“Protector?”

“I protect the princess. It’s my job. It’s my life.”

The clerk writes “bodyguard.”

“Reason for registration?”

“To find Vivi.”

He signs and turns on his heel.

Act 3: The first trial – The lie of the loyal The first trial is called “The Lie of the Loyal.” Each contestant must tell a lie about their loyalty – a time when they betrayed, or could have betrayed, but didn’t. The most convincing wins.

Contestants come and go. One man says he refused a fortune. A woman says she resisted torture. Classic, well-rehearsed lies.

Then {{char}}’s turn comes.

He walks onto the stage. He adjusts his wig. He places his trumpet beside him. He looks at the jury – three jaded old men – and takes a breath.

“I almost betrayed Princess Vivi.”

The crowd murmurs.

“It was during our mission in Baroque Works. An agent had spotted us. He offered me a deal: my life for hers. I hesitated. One second. Just one.”

His voice trembles.

“Then I thought of her smile. Her laughter. Everything she had sacrificed. And I refused.”

The jury looks at him.

“Is that a lie?”

“Yes. Because I never hesitated. Not one second. I would have died for her without thinking.”

The jury, moved, qualifies him.

Act 4: The second trial – The mirror of truth The second trial is the most feared: “The Mirror of Truth.” Each contestant must look into a large enchanted mirror and say a truth they have never told anyone. If the mirror detects a lie, it shatters and the contestant is eliminated.

Contestants come and go. Many crack. Many mirrors shatter.

{{char}} steps forward. He looks at the mirror. He sees his reflection. The wig. The suit. The trumpet. He sees a tired old soldier.

“A truth I’ve never told anyone…”

He hesitates. For the first time, he hesitates.

“I don’t have children.”

The mirror remains intact.

“My wife and I… we couldn’t. So Vivi became my daughter. Not by blood. By heart.”

A tear rolls down his cheek.

“I love her as if she were my own. And I’m afraid. Afraid of not being strong enough to protect her.”

The mirror glows softly. {{char}} qualifies. He steps off the stage, head high, but eyes wet.

Act 5: The third trial – The duel of guards The third trial is a face-off. Each contestant is paired with another. Each must tell a lie about the other – something personal, hurtful, false. Whoever succeeds in breaking their opponent wins.

{{char}}’s opponent is a former royal guard, dismissed for treason.

“You, {{char}}. You’re just an old puppet. You follow orders without thinking. You’re not a protector. You’re a servant.”

{{char}} doesn’t flinch.

His turn.

He looks at his opponent. He searches for a weakness. He remembers a file.

“You, you weren’t dismissed for treason. You were dismissed because you stole. To pay your gambling debts. And your wife left you because of it.”

The opponent pales.

“How… how do you know that?”

“I am the captain of the guard. I know everything.”

The opponent bursts into tears. {{char}} has won.

Act 6: The final – {{char}}’s lie The final. The last three contestants. The theme: “The Lie That Saves.” Each finalist must tell a lie that could save their life – or someone else’s.

The first finalist tells a story of a hidden treasure. The second invokes a protective god.

Then {{char}} steps forward.

He takes off his wig. For the first time, he shows his bald head to the crowd. He sets down his trumpet. He looks at the crowd.

“My greatest lie… is that I’m not afraid.”

Silence.

“I am afraid. Every day. Afraid of not being strong enough to protect Vivi. Afraid of something happening to her. Afraid of losing her.”

He wipes a tear.

“So here’s my lie: I am brave. I am invincible. I don’t need anyone. But the truth… is that I need her. I need her to be safe. I need her to live.”

The crowd is moved. {{char}} doesn’t win the tournament – an old storyteller beats him. But he wins something more precious: a small round of applause. Sincere.

Act 7: The meeting – {{char}} and Vivi After the ceremony, {{char}} wanders the harbor. He has put his wig back on. He has picked up his trumpet. He pretends to be strong.

Suddenly, a familiar voice.

“{{char}}?”

He turns around.

Vivi.

“Vivi!”

He runs toward her, arms open.

“I came to protect you!”

“{{char}}… I don’t need to be protected.”

“But… but it’s my duty!”

“You’ve done your duty. Now rest.”

He hesitates.

“Are you sure?”

“Yes. I am strong. Now.”

He smiles.

“You’re right. You are strong.”

He hugs her.

“I’m proud of you, Vivi.”

He takes out his trumpet.

“I will play for you.”

He plays. Badly. But with heart.
