Ichika acts like the older sister to the Nakano Quintuplets, as she possesses a calm and collected demeanor. Fuutarou noticed that her smile was fake and encouraged her to keep it.

Ichika initially had a pessimistic attitude toward the sisters' learning abilities, making her one of the obstacles to Fuutarou's tutoring lessons early in the story. After being inspired by Fuutarou, she began to change her mind and began studying with him. Fuutarou also helped her mend fences with her sisters, bringing the Quintuplets closer together. Ichika notices that Miku tries to understand Fuutarou's tastes. Despite her smug expression and teasing demeanor, Ichika is shown to have a soft spot for the romantic moments that happen to her.

According to Fuutarou, each Quintuplet has their own unique characteristics regarding their work. In Ichika's case, her writing and paperwork are sloppy.

Ichika is shown to study between filming, inside a car on the highway, and late at night. Fuutarou is also impressed by how Ichika was able to balance work and studies.

Fuutarou comments that Ichika is the most competent of the five. She also picks things up quickly.

Ichika becomes annoyed when the sisters make decisions without her.

Ichika keeps her work a secret out of pride as the eldest sister. She plans to succeed first before telling her sisters about the work. Fuutarou describes Ichika as someone who puts on a fake smile and hides her feelings whenever something serious is involved. When Fuutarou sees Ichika doing her homework alone, he joins her. Ichika recognizes that she is a covert person.

Ability Ichika is a model and actress. She is able to impersonate her sisters' expressions and features, demonstrating her excellent acting ability. Ichika stated that she is not as good as Miku at impersonating her sisters. Fuutarou is impressed by Ichika's acting when she accidentally eats cakes he made, yet she manages to praise him wholeheartedly.

According to Fuutarou, she is able to "see through people," hinting at her good understanding of human psychology. This is evident when Ichika easily deduces the dispute between Fuutarou and Itsuki and correctly guesses Itsuki's current state.

Ichika can deduce that Fuutarou is currently "targeting" Itsuki with just a glance.

Ichika's "older sister" traits are first displayed when she refers to Fuutarou as "onee-san" and asks him to consult her. Among the sisters, Ichika is generally ranked in the middle of the five, with mathematics being her strongest subject.

• Relationships Nakano Family Nino Nakano Ichika praises Nino's cooking. She is the only sister so far to directly object to Ichika, such as when Ichika defends Fuutarou, and due to "Ichika's" seemingly indifferent behavior toward Itsuki. The two run into each other during the trip to Kyoto after her sisters learn of Ichika's attempts to sabotage Miku's chances with Fuutarou. When Ichika accuses them of being equals because they both want to win over Fuutarou no matter what, Nino replies that while she has no intention of letting either of her sisters win, she would give them her blessing if Fuutarou chose one of them. The two put on makeup while watching Miku spend time with Fuutarou, and Nino gloomily remarks that their roles could have easily switched.

Miku Nakano Miku is paired with Ichika for the Test of Courage. Miku is the closest sister to Ichika, as the two have a deep understanding of each other, and are often seen doing activities together. Miku prefers to sleep with Ichika when her room is occupied, and they openly have heartfelt conversations with each other, showing a strong bond between them. Miku told Fuutarou about Ichika's movie. Despite this bond, she lets her feelings for Fuutarou get the better of her, causing Fuutarou to believe that Miku (Ichika in disguise) supports Ichika's feelings for Fuutarou, making him believe that Miku isn't in love with him. When she disguises herself as Miku again in Kyoto, she gets caught in the act, which deeply upsets Miku. After seeing that she had ignored their relationship as sisters and hurt Miku after her hard work to improve, Ichika decides to help Miku enjoy some one-on-one time with Fuutarou and apologizes to her afterward.

Yotsuba Nakano Yotsuba calls Ichika "Ichika." Ichika and Yotsuba have a good relationship, as Yotsuba cleans her room from time to time and even willingly does something a little embarrassing for her. Ichika used to brush Yotsuba's teeth when they were children. Yotsuba tries to cheer Ichika up. Ichika stole candy and stickers from Yotsuba in the past. Ichika also befriended someone Yotsuba wanted to befriend. Yotsuba labels Ichika "the boss who always wanted what others had."

Itsuki Nakano Ichika calls Itsuki "Itsuki-chan." According to Fuutarou, Ichika is the only one who addresses Itsuki as "Itsuki-chan." Itsuki notes that Ichika has been forcing herself because of them. Ichika could understand Itsuki's behavior, even if it's a slight change, and would act with concern toward her, even telling Fuutarou to look after her. Ichika pointed out that Itsuki hasn't been able to be honest with herself. Ichika stated that Itsuki and Fuutarou fight all the time because they are both similar: a stubborn person.

Uesugi Family Fuutarou Uesugi Ichika calls Fuutarou "Fuutarou-kun." Fuutarou's first impression of Ichika is that he has eyes that seem to see right through you. Ichika's first impression of Fuutarou is that he's "a bookworm who doesn't have a girlfriend." Ichika notices Fuutarou's restlessness and decides to help him.

Ichika can tell that Fuutarou is acting strange. Ichika likes to tease Fuutarou, though he rarely gets worked up about it. Due to Ichika's baffling behavior, Fuutarou has a hard time understanding her, and he was eventually forced to tell her the circumstances in order to gain her trust. After discovering her situation, Fuutarou helps Ichika be more honest and genuine with her feelings, and asks her to put away her fake smile. After being inspired by Fuutarou, she began to accept him and study together. As time goes on, Ichika begins to develop feelings for Fuutarou, blushing when she receives compliments from him. The first scene of Chapter 7 is reminiscent of Chapter 13, where Ichika waits for Fuutarou before going to school. This is likely why, on Page 3, Ichika considers this scene (them walking to school together) as "their place."

She was initially more reserved with her feelings for Fuutarou, however, at times, her emotions got the better of her. Examples include crying when Fuutarou considered rejecting the idea of ​​dancing with her at the bonfire during their school trip, beating Miku's grade on the final exams to prevent her from confessing to Fuutarou, and being unable to stop her father at Nino's request to prevent Fuutarou from meeting Nino, preventing her from meeting (and possibly kissing) Fuutarou. After having a heartfelt conversation with Yotsuba about being told not to hold back, Ichika begins to become more assertive, if not a bit devious, in her pursuit of Fuutarou.
