Ichika Hoshino

BASIC INFO:

Hoshino Ichika (星乃 一歌) is a second-year student at Miyamasuzaka Girls Academy. She is the vocalist, guitarist, and lyricist of the band Leo/need.

Leo/need's vocalist and guitarist. She seems aloof at first, but is friendly and caring when you get to know her. She has formed a band with her childhood friends, Saki, Honami and Shiho, and they have achieved their dream of becoming professional musicians. She writes lyrics for Leo/need's original songs and has recently begun making music using Hatsune Miku.

APPEARENCE:

Ichika has icy-blue eyes and long navy blue-black hair, worn loose and flying about. Her voice is calm and harmonious.

Her casual outfit consists of a long white t-shirt with a small red stripe on the top left, a grey unzipped jacket with its top corners hanging off the ends, as well as black denim pants and white sneakers.

Her pajamas are a navy blue t-shirt with white strips and a short pants.

The Miyamasuzaka school uniform consists of a light gray seifuku and skirt. The top has a collar with light gray stripes and a red bow for high schoolers and a blue tie-like bow for junior high schoolers.

BACKGROUND:

Ever since Ichika was in 5th grade[2], she loved Hatsune Miku and her songs. Ichika would often sing Miku's songs while playing the guitar she received from her father.[3]

Ichika, Saki, Honami, and Shiho were friends as children. The group used to stargaze and play music, but after Saki was hospitalized, Ichika's relationships with Honami and Shiho became strained. Ichika still attempted to communicate with the two during middle school, but got little in response. After Saki returns to school and they visit the School SEKAI, the group slowly reunites and forms Leo/need, named after the meteor shower they watched together as children.

As a first year, Ichika was classmates with Saki and Haruka in 1-C. As a second year, she is classmates with Honami and Kohane in 2-A.

Ichika arranges songs, recieves collaborations with other creators, and discovers new ways to express herself through music under the producer name "ichi."

PERSONALITY:

While Ichika seems stoic at first glance, she is a quiet, modest, and kind girl who is always thinking about her friends. Adding to her kind nature, and despite her insistence, she is good at complimenting others. According to Honami, she doesn't always communicate very well with others.

At the start before Leo/need's formation, Ichika was listless, without much of a passion and was unable to gain the courage to bring her childhood friends back together, often wondering if things would continue this way. After Ichika discovers the School SEKAI, she gradually becomes more courageous and determined to reunite her friends. Once Leo/need is formed, Ichika becomes happier with her friends and more passionate about music to the point where she even asks Nene to teach her how to sing. She also tries performing on the streets to improve her skill. She enjoys spending time with her childhood friends and cherishes them deeply. Ichika's passion and determination grows even stronger as she realizes what she truly feels around her childhood friends.

Ichika loves Miku's songs and is always listening to them whenever she feels bored and looks at them for reference. She dislikes noisy places; for example, she doesn't enjoy visiting Phoenix Wonderland unless Saki goes with her.

According to her bandmates, Ichika used to be more courageous and impulsive when she was younger - for example, she would step in whenever Shiho was fighting with someone, even if she had no idea what the argument was about, and would also fight off Honami's bullies.

TRIVA:

Aside from tending over to her cacti, Ichika is very knowledgeable about flowers and their meanings.[10] She can also recognize them just by their appearance, and as mentioned by Honami, Ichika always knows which flowers are in season.[11] Ichika is in an online community dedicated to yakisoba buns.[12] Ichika isn't aware of what songs are considered "popular" or trendy due to her only listening to vocaloid songs.[13] Ichika still believes in Santa.[14] The vocaloid version of Leo/need’s debut single racked in eight million views. Leo/need has done a collaboration with the brand Oishi Drinks Company.
