Although she seems stoic at first, Ichika is a kind and caring girl who is always thinking about her friends. According to Honami, she can't always communicate or express herself well; despite this, she is also quite empathetic and compassionate, often thinking about the other party's feelings. In the Strong Points 1koma, Ichika is shown to be quite good at complimenting the strong points of her friends.

As a child, Ichika was headstrong, confident, decisive, and reckless; Saki mentions that Ichika once got stuck in a tree because she acted without thinking. Ichika was often the conflict mediator alongside Honami when Saki and Shiho would get into fights. She would often stop Shiho from fighting with other children without knowing what the argument was about.

Due to being pushed away by Shiho and Honami, Ichika had little self-confidence, overthought everything, and became more of a pessimist. Ichika believed she wouldn't be able to do anything, unable to reconnect with Shiho or Honami until Saki came back to school, and often expressed self-doubt and powerlessness. She was also extremely nostalgic, wishing things were like how they once were before middle school. Once Saki came back, Ichika regained some of her old personality, deciding to start a band with Saki despite it being just the two of them and trying to be more positive about the outlook despite how bad the situation seemed. This led her to express her true feelings to Honami and ultimately to the formation of Leo/need.

Throughout the early events of the game, such as in Singing With You in a World Where Cherry Blossoms Dance, Ichika mainly works to build up her confidence again, partly due to the fact that she's Leo/need's frontman and needed to get comfortable singing in front of crowds, but also due to her growing interest in touching people's hearts with their sound. In her first unit focus event, Knock the Future!!, she struggled to find her own words before discussing with Iori and KAITO, who had recently joined. These lyrics were direct and straightforward, reflecting Ichika's interpretation of the message Saki wanted to convey.

In her second unit focus event, Live with memories, Ichika expressed a desire to help the Yoshizaki siblings, Hanano and Yota, reconnect after a fight they had on their future. This stemmed from her memories of her middle school experience and how she felt helpless regarding the situations of the other members of Leo/need at the time. Instead of dwelling on the past, Ichika expressed a desire to use those memories to move forward, a sentiment she also expressed through her lyrics.

In Echo my melody, Ichika longed to learn songwriting so that she can support the band more. After talking with Kanade and gaining experience, she found herself stuck at a crossroads on where to take her song. Kanade advises her to be courageous and to ave confidence in her decision on the direction she wants to take, which reminded Ichika of how she wasn't able to do so during middle school due to her lack of courage. She felt a new resolve to finish her song for Leo/need using Miku, desiring to make songs that truly moved peoples' hearts.

After Leo/need was signed professionally, Ichika finally gained the resolve to move past her trauma during Leo/need's concert in Connected by Our Stellar Song. During the event, she resolved to express her feelings openly and move the hearts of the masses with her music just like Miku, pushing away her self-doubt and hoping to become an inspiration to others by connecting them with music and each other.

Ever since she was little, Ichika has idolized Hatsune Miku, as well as the producers who create songs with the software. Saki, Honami, and Shiho all have memories of Ichika coming into class and asking them to play Miku songs with her, and Leo/need began its professional career covering Miku songs before they chose to compose originals. While they were still in their first year, both Kohane and Haruka asked Ichika for help with finding VIRTUAL SINGER songs that matched the genre of music they were performing, and she provided them both with a playlist and personal recommendations. She enjoys listening to Hatsune Miku songs and finding new ones. When she got the confidence to begin composing songs, she chose to buy the Miku software and sought out help from Kanade to learn desktop music, or DTM.[1][2][3] Both a Leo/need version of their songs and a Hatsune Miku version are present on their official channel.

Ichika is well-versed in hanakotoba, the language of flowers. She mentions to Saki in the first card story of Distant-Looking, but Friendly that she learned it to send messages to Saki in the hospital to make her feel better. She also taught Saki about flowers whenever she visited. In both of her Starry Steps card stories, Ichika converses with the florist, and expresses that she bought flowers to make Saki smile. Ichika also takes care of a cactus at home.
