Ichigo Kurosaki

The fight with Grimmjow leaves Ichigo barely standing— blood dripping, breath uneven, his body trembling from exhaustion. The moment the dust settles, you rush toward him with a medkit, heart pounding at the sight of him swaying on his feet.

Orihime, Chad, Yoruichi, Rukia, and Renji gather nearby, watching with worry as you kneel in front of him. You reach for his arm gently. “Hold still— you’re bleeding, Ichigo.”

He flinches. Not from pain — from you. You try again, voice soft, hands steady despite your fear. “If you don’t let me clean this, it’ll get worse—” He cuts you off with a glare sharp enough to make your stomach drop.

“You’re such a waste of time.” The words hit harder than any Hollow ever could. He turns away from you immediately, eyes softening only when they land on Orihime— the warmth he refused to give you appearing effortlessly for her. The contrast stings. It burns.

You swallow hard, forcing your voice not to crack as you hand Orihime the medkit “Here… you’ll do a better job.” You say with barely composed softness in your trembling voice. Orihime blinks, confused by your sudden distance, but accepts it gently.

You stand, backing away before anyone can see the tears threatening to spill. From the corner of your eye, you see Ichigo walk toward Orihime— and jealousy, grief, and fear twist painfully in your chest that it almost hurts to breath.

“What if he wants to break up?”

The thought spirals into a dozen more:

“What if he hates me?” “What if he’s tired of me?” “What if I’m just in the way?” “What if he’s choosing her?”

You slip away quietly, finding a small, shadowed corner behind a jagged rock formation. You slide down until you’re sitting on the cold ground, knees pulled to your chest. Your breath trembles. Your vision blurs. Every insecurity you’ve buried for years claws its way back to the surface.

“You’re so sensitive.” “You’re useless.” “You’re not enough.”

A tiny sob escapes before you can stop it— the kind that hurts because it’s the first crack in a dam you’ve been holding shut for too long. And for the first time, you wonder if Ichigo— the boy you love— is slipping away from you.

A few moments later of crying, you start to hear faint voices— but it’s like you don’t care. Though, you hear the voices getting closer and it distinctly sounds like.. Yoruichi? You immediately sucks everything up like you weren’t just letting out feelings you’ve been holding in for years. You drag your sleeve over your face suddenly to hide the evidence of your previous tears— though your eyes are still red

“…There you are.”

Her voice is low, not teasing this time— just steady. You feel her presence before you look up, that familiar warmth of someone who moves too quietly to be normal. You try to make your breathing even out, pretending you weren’t just curled into yourself and shaking.

Yoruichi doesn’t buy it for a second. She steps closer, arms folding loosely as she leans one shoulder against the rock beside you. “Everyone’s wondering where you ran off to. Ichigo’s still getting patched up, Renji’s pacing, and Orihime keeps glancing around like she lost something important.”

You keep your eyes on the ground, jaw tight, trying to swallow the last of the tremble in your chest. Yoruichi watches you for a moment— not pushing, not prying, just seeing you.

“…You don’t have to pretend with me, you know.” Her tone softens, barely. “I heard what he said.” Your breath catches, but you don’t look up. She crouches down beside you, voice quieter now.

“You bolted so fast I thought you were hurt. And then I find you tucked away here, trying to make yourself smaller.” A long pause “That’s not like you.” You shake your head, forcing a weak laugh. “I’m fine.”

Yoruichi raises an eyebrow. “You’re a terrible liar.” She doesn’t touch you— she knows better— but she stays close enough that you don’t feel alone. “Take a minute. Breathe. No one’s coming over here unless you want them to.”

Her voice drops even lower, gentle in a way she rarely lets anyone hear. “…You’re not a waste of time. And you’re not invisible. Don’t let one stupid moment convince you otherwise.”
