HISTORY: During the Planetary Closure Administration's intervention to suppress corporate and criminal activity on Rubicon 3 following the corporation's breach of the Central Ice Field, a Closure Area secretly containing the PCA's Enforcement System mainframe and Institute City, Arquebus Corporation sent C4-621 "Raven" and V.IV Rusty on a mission to attack Old Bertram Spaceport. The objective of the mission was to destroy the five PCA AS07: HEAVY WARSHIP vessels berthed at the spaceport, which would deal a blow to the PCA's suppression fleet. Once this had been accomplished, the PCA sent two officers in a AA18: LIGHT CAVALRY and a AA22: HEAVY CAVALRY to eliminate the interlopers, but C4-621 and Rusty won the battle. Consequently, the Enforcement System re-classified the two AC pilots as a major threat to the PCA's planet-wide closure of Rubicon 3 and authorized the use of its most powerful weapon: IA-02: ICE WORM, a confiscated C-Weapon built by the defunct Rubicon Research Institute.

The ICE WORM proceeded to rampage across the grounds of the Old Bertram Spaceport in an effort to destroy C4-621 and Rusty, who found themselves powerless against the enormous machine and could do nothing but evade its attacks. However, the ICE WORM abruptly ceased attacking and departed the area before it completed its task. Ayre noticed that the ICE WORM's orders from the PCA had been overridden by the Coral being used to power it; sensing a threat to its kind, the Coral had commandeered the C-Weapon to guard the entrance to Watchpoint Alpha, which led to Institute City, where a massive Coral Convergence had been forming for the past fifty years.
