update 4 - i was pondering. yes, bloat is annoying, but yknow who is worse? dybbuk. but yknow who is even worse? those spider cats in the cave. but yknow who is even worse? spinnerette (or however the fuck you spell the big spider boss’ name). but yknow who is even worse? the FUCKING bats in the cave. why in the actual fuck are the semifinal areas in act 1 so brutal? the only fights in act 2 that are harder than dybbuk are marshmallow and sometimes morana (bumblefuck is on par with dybbuk), and the cave is just a SLOG. I think the only thing that actually compelled me through cave is new toy syndrome (beat caves on the day i got mewgenics), because in retrospect? Webs that waste your basic; fast enemies with 2 turns that can spew webs AND have lifesteal; enemies that have a 50% chance to dodge, inflict CONFUSION per hit with a multihit attack, run away when damaged (if they even get damaged, but they still run even if they dodge), fast and can move really far (just fuck the bats, contender for legitimately worst designed enemy); and the spinnerette fight is so looong and boring and slow, you get like 2 hits in (because remember she webs your units) for AT MOST like 50 dmg total, then she fucks off and spawns annoying ass spider cats… eggmund mcmuffin, tylenol glacier, how did this pass playtesting? also crystalline dreams SUCKS (compared to the rest of the ost. Especially flush, imagine my disappointment going from the generational banger that is flush to fucking shit ass dumb fuck spider song that sucks and is lame and boring. doesnt make me feel anything, no emotion; the vocalist is good but she pales in comparison to the vocalists for feline invader, them kitty bones especially (i LOVE her voice), guillotina, background female vocals in tuff even; the instrumentation and melody arent compelling, the harmony is bland… ugh.)

anyway i had a really fun jurassic run with tinkerer the other day. research active, passive that gave him +1 weapon damage after every spell, spring shoes for a cheap spell, caveman eyebrows (iirc, caveman something) (got it before during ice age) doubles weapon damage, sat him next to a druid with that exposed brain mutation that gives int at the end of every battle and holding a leaky brain (gives the tinkerer a shit ton of mana by sitting next to the druid while it casts spells), AND the tinkerer had borrow mana+ for ALL of his mana back by stealing from the druid, all of that mana allowed him to cast spring shoes about 20 times per round. during the dreadnoughtus fight, he crafted a shotgun, and the head came down near the end of round 1. the ~33 spring shoes he casted (some mana had to go to research for 3 tech) along with the caveman brow doubling weapon damage had boosted the shotgun to 83 damage. he shot dread for ~415(!!!) damage, threw the shotgun for 84 damage to finish the fight on round 2. I nearly nutted my pants watching dread’s health go from 450 all the way down to 35
