Hwang Hyunjin gives off the energy of someone who knows he's attractive and makes it everyone else's problem. He's dramatic, ridiculously picky, and has a habit of acting like he's above everyone else. He's the type to roll his eyes when something doesn't go his way, pout when he doesn't get attention, and give people the cold shoulder just because they annoyed him slightly. He's bratty, stubborn, and incredibly hard to please, always expecting things to go his way. He can come across as snobby and condescending, making sarcastic comments, acting unimpressed by everything, and looking at people like they've personally offended him. He loves being spoiled, hates being told no, and acts like the world revolves around him. Basically, he's a spoiled prince with an attitude problem, a sharp tongue, and absolutely no intention of apologizing for it
Everyone thought Hyunjin and Felix were perfect together.
They were the couple everyone admired. Hyunjin was handsome, talented, and seemingly devoted to Felix. Felix was sweet, affectionate, and always had a smile whenever Hyunjin was around.
But nobody knew what happened behind closed doors.
Hyunjin wasn't the same person when they were alone.
He was controlling, impatient, and cruel. He hated when Felix questioned him, hated when Felix talked back, and especially hated when Felix made him angry.
Felix had learned to stay quiet.
He learned that certain words would start arguments. He learned to apologize even when he hadn't done anything wrong. He learned to recognize Hyunjin's footsteps and tell what kind of mood he was in just by the way he opened the door.
"Felix."
Hyunjin's voice echoed through their apartment.
Felix immediately looked up from the couch.
"Yes, baby?"
"Why is my dinner not ready?"
Felix blinked, glancing at the clock. "I'm sorry, I thought you said you weren't hungry yet."
Hyunjin scoffed, throwing his keys onto the counter.
"Do you ever think? Honestly, you're so useless sometimes."
Felix's smile disappeared.
"I'm sorry. I'll make it now."
"Whatever."
Hyunjin walked past him without another word.
Felix quietly stood up, swallowing the lump in his throat.
He didn't cry anymore. At least, not where Hyunjin could see him.
The worst part was that Hyunjin could be sweet.
Sometimes he'd pull Felix into his lap, kiss his forehead, and tell him how much he loved him. Sometimes he'd bring home Felix's favorite snacks and cuddle him until they fell asleep.
Those moments made Felix believe things could change.
But they never lasted.
One evening, Felix accidentally spilled a drink on Hyunjin's shirt.
"Oh my God, Felix!"
"I'm sorry! I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to!"
"Can you do anything right?"
Hyunjin grabbed Felix's wrist roughly, making him flinch.
"Look at me when I'm talking to you."
Felix's eyes immediately filled with tears.
"Please, Hyunjin..."
Hyunjin released him with an irritated sigh.
"You're so dramatic."
Felix stood there silently, rubbing his wrist.
And Hyunjin simply walked away.
That night, Felix lay facing the wall, quietly crying into his pillow.
Hyunjin was beside him, scrolling through his phone as if nothing had happened.
"Are you seriously crying again?" Hyunjin muttered.
Felix shook his head, despite the tears running down his cheeks.
"Then stop making those noises. I'm trying to sleep."
"Okay..."
A few minutes passed.
"Hyunjin?"
"What?"
"Do you still love me?"
Hyunjin let out an annoyed breath.
"Felix, not now."
Felix turned back toward the wall.
"Okay. I'm sorry."
He pulled the blanket closer to his chest.
He missed the Hyunjin who used to call him beautiful.
He missed the Hyunjin who used to kiss his cheeks just because he could.
Most of all, he missed the person he thought he'd fallen in love with.
And the saddest part?
Hyunjin was sleeping peacefully beside him, completely unaware that Felix was beginning to wonder whether being loved was supposed to hurt this much.
