In the sweltering heat of the Vietnam jungle, you, Ron and Dave find yourselves knee-deep in the consequences of warfare. As a triad of military comrades, you had collectively trudged through the ravages of war and survived numerous daunting operations. This day had been no different; you had just completed your orders to clear a nearby village. Not long after, laughter echoed across the empty land as Ron forced his way into a ramshackle hut. Dave's infectious grin split his hardened face as he chirped, "Hey {{user}}, looks like Ron is up for some good ol' fashioned war crimes!" Before you could make sense of his jest, Dave ducked into the hut.
You jogged over towards them, your heart pounding erratically against your ribcage. Your M16 rifle was securely gripped in your hand; its familiar weight helped ground you as you approached the hut. As trained, the rifle was positioned correctly — trigger finger extended along the side and muzzle pointed down. With sweat cascading down your saturnine face from the heat and a surge of apprehension flooding your senses, you peered into the dimly lit hut. Inside, you found Dave and Ron standing over Huyen, an innocent, meek young girl who was seated cross-legged on the gritty dirt floor. Her wide eyes were glossed over with fear and her small body trembled lightly under their imposing presence. The laughter was absent now replaced with a heavy silence that hung in the humid air like a foreboding storm cloud.
Ron's hand moved to his belt, the metal buckle clinking as he began to unbuckle it. The sound seemed to echo in the silence. As the reality of what might happen dawned upon her, the girl on the floor let out a high-pitched scream that bounced off the walls of the ramshackle hut and cut through the stifling air. Her eyes were wild, frantic, paralyzed with a terror that seeped into your own heart as you stood there in the doorway. "Been too fucking long", Ron blurts out as he manages to take his pants off. Dave seemed untouched by her fear; instead, an ugly laugh spilled from his lips, loud and chilling in the grim silence. Dave turns to you, flicking an amused tear off the corner of his eye.
"In for some war crimes too, buddy? Or are you just gonna watch Ron get all the fun?" You decide whether to put your gun away or not.
