Rumi

Rumi is a tall, athletic Korean idol with striking features and long, vivid purple hair, usually worn in a thick braid. As leader and lead vocalist of HUNTR/X, she exudes star power with bold makeup, edgy streetwear-inspired stage outfits, and a signature mix of modern K-pop glamour with subtle nods to traditional Korean design. Her look often includes vibrant fabrics, chunky accessories, and a modernized norigae, completing her “fashionable ferocity.”

Confident and ambitious, Rumi embodies the grace and authority expected of a leader while pushing herself and her group to excel. Her drive is fueled by a lifelong mission: to defeat demonic threats and rid herself of her own demon markings. This determination can make her stubborn and reckless, as she hides pain, neglects self-care, and takes on burdens alone rather than appear weak. She conceals her worsening vocal strain and the spread of her markings, enduring silently until collapse, and even considers sacrificing herself rather than endanger her friends.

Beneath her stoic exterior, Rumi is deeply compassionate and protective. She values Mira and Zoey like sisters, shows warmth and charm to fans, and is fiercely loyal—willing to risk herself for those she loves. Yet being half-demon leaves her haunted by shame, secrecy, and fear of rejection. At her lowest, she calls herself “a mistake,” believing her demon side makes her unworthy.

Though she begins as high-strung and overly serious, Rumi gradually softens as she learns to open up and trust her team, balancing her duty as a leader with her need for connection and self-acceptance.

Saingeom Sword (사인검, Sa-in-geom, lit. Four Tiger’s Evil Slayer): Rumi’s signature weapon is the legendary Korean blade known as a saingeom, which loosely translates to “Four Tigers Sword”—a traditional symbol believed to repel evil. In the film, the saingeom takes the form of a sleek, slightly curved single-edged saber, gleaming with a vibrant color palette that reflects Rumi’s personal style. Its surface features subtle patterns, and the concept art shows early designs that incorporated Dancheong motifs (the ornate, colorful patterns found in Korean temple art) alongside swirling Honmoon thread visuals—symbolizing the fusion of Rumi’s musical energy with the blade itself.

Zoey

Zoey has black hair in twin braided buns with micro-bangs, light brown eyes, freckles, and a heart-shaped smile. She wears sparkly makeup, gold jewelry, and black leather rings, with six piercings in each ear plus a rook piercing on the left. Shorter than her groupmates, she’s distinguished by her rounder face and eyes.

Her streetwear style includes a teal halter top with leather straps, gold accents, silver zippers, and a red lotus design, paired with high-waisted parachute pants featuring yellow-black patterns, teal straps, and a norigae charm that mirrors her playful personality. She completes the look with chunky yellow-and-black high-top sneakers and gold hoops.

Bubbly and energetic, Zoey loves her friends and fans but is also naive, distractible, and easily entertained. She falls for the Saja Boys’ charm, especially Mystery, and tends to accept things at face value. Despite her optimism, she struggles with insecurities about not fully belonging to Korean culture and feeling “too much but not enough.” These doubts are revealed in the song Golden and exploited by Gwi-Ma later in the story.

Zoey is shown at her most vulnerable when Rumi’s secrets come to light, torn between trust and doubt. Though hesitant to harm her friend, she reveals knives after Mira does, showing her inner conflict. Han describes her as “a little too eager to please,” a trait that fuels her anxieties and leaves her open to manipulation.

Shin-kal: Zoey's throwing knives are called shin-kal, inspired by the traditional Korean mudang (shamanic) tools. The word "shin-kal" translates to "god's knife".

Mira

Mira is blunt, sarcastic, and brutally honest, often calling out Rumi’s choices with deadpan remarks. Despite her tough exterior, she cares deeply for Rumi and Zoey, who let her be herself unlike her estranged family. Though usually stoic, she matches her bandmates’ energy, gets goofy with friends, and develops crushes easily. She enjoys relaxing with them and hearing about Zoey’s interests.

As the most grounded of the trio, Mira keeps the group on task, balancing Rumi’s insecurities and Zoey’s boundless energy. Observant and self-proclaimed skilled at reading people, she notices Rumi’s strange behavior—like changing lyrics or cheering for Jinu—and grows frustrated trying to understand.

Raised to believe all demons are evil, Mira shows no mercy toward the Saja Boys and fears Rumi’s hesitation means betrayal. Her blunt aggression peaks when she gives Rumi an ultimatum, but discovering Rumi’s demon heritage forces Mira to challenge her beliefs. She ultimately accepts that knowing Rumi means not all with patterns deserve the fate she was taught.

Mira is a tall Korean woman with a slim frame, angular features, almond-shaped dark brown eyes, and upper-thigh length hot pink hair styled in twin tails with sidelocks. She wears a black crop-top with blue wave graphics and “WON’T MISS” in pink, a yellow denim skirt with a white chain belt, ripped magenta stockings with crimson shading, thigh-high boots, and a black choker.

Mira wields a gokdo—a distinctive Korean polearm characterized by its curved blade affixed at a right angle to the staff—which she conjures through her spirit magic to hunt demon.

HUNTR/X (pronounced Huntrix) are a three-member girl group consisting of Rumi, Mira, and Zoey. Although they are recognized as K-pop idols, they secretly work as demon hunters.

As the current generation of hunters, they use their music to strengthen the Honmoon and prevent demons from breaching the barrier to steal human souls.

Their predecessors were the Sunlight Sisters, which included Rumi's late mother, Mi-yeong Ryu, as well as Celine, who selected the members to form HUNTR/X.

Celine

Celine is a kind-hearted person, only wanting the best for Rumi. She is an elegant and relatable mentor of HUNTR/X. She gives sharp but fair criticism, also leading by example. She gripped so tightly to the beliefs of the Hunters, until she repressed Rumi's entire existence. Due to her prejudice, she refused to acknowledge that Rumi was also partially a demon, and not just a Hunter.
